groatie queen - brilliant idea !! I always thought whoever came up with a design for an interior light for a handbag would make a mint...........know the sort ? Bit like the one in the fridge.............open handbag and light goes on - but your idea is next best thing and a lot cheaper................lol:j

I do, in fact, have a handbag with an interior light - it was a present from DD from M&S some years ago.

Lucky you. I've lost count of the number of times I've cursed when what I want is lurking in the bottom of my bag 'somewhere'.............my phone rings and by the time I find it whoever it was has rung off..........trouble is.......I'd need a light I could transfer from bag to bag..............I have a thing about bags.........they're a 'must have........come and buy me' item........needless to say I've more than I care to mention...............lol

Sounds like a bit of handbag "decluttering" coming up mary43. I find it helps to keep just a bare minimum in mine - mobile phone/comb/biro in small outer pocket and the main bit with diary/glasses and sunglasses bits/purse and the ever-revolving (updated daily to shop for and do in town list) and keys in small inner pocket. Thats it - nowt else.

I'm the same ceridwen, except I also have my inhaler and a pkt of tissues in mine. I find it helps if you only use a small bag and that way you can't put too much in.

    Current contents of handbag:
    Mobile phone
    Diary
    Address book
    Purse
Cheque book (if I think I'll need it)
Small container with nail clippers and nail scissors in
    Hairbrush (small)
    Notebook for shopping list
    Pen

Dont know how I can de-clutter that lot really................all much needed (or possibly) stuff...................OH would not agree but if he needs a sticky plaster I've always got some in my purse, nail clippers if he breaks his nail, phone number or address if he wants them etc.

Speaking of OH...............I think he's just done my 27 items for today. Heard a bit of a racket from former 'junk room' (still is really due to megga damp wall that needs seeing to)................he proudly announced he's almost emptied the old oak sideboard !!!!!!!!!! Now he wants to get rid of it.............my face fell..............I lovingly stripped it down to a nice light colour and it was in our kitchen for ages................such a solid piece of furniture................I don't want him to out it - his argument is that is takes up too much room (can't disagree with that) so he'd rather keep the little two drawer painted set of plywood drawers..............smaller but more flimsy.................so..........what best to do ? Do I stop him in his tracks and risk him downing tools for some time or do I play along and cry up a corner quietly about oak sideboard ?

You're right there. Until we almost went bankrupt several years ago and nearly lost our house (we'd already had to sell half the contents to keep heads nearly above water) I'd forgetten what it was like to really struggle.
I've been there, worn the t-shirt, as they say, many years ago when my kids were young but its so easy to forget when better times arrive.
We're not well off now by any means but by comparison to others we're quite affluent.
Trouble is, so many people tend to bury their heads to others misfortunates and every little while we all need a bit of a jolt to count our blessings and if we can do anything for those less fortunate then in my book, we should

I'm one of those people who can always feed people who arrive with no notice. I've always got the makings of a meal for at least 6 people and keep a tin with biscuits for doling out with tea and coffee. It makes me feel guilty if I can't offer people a meal and/or a snack. I'd love to be like one of my friends who always says that if you want a biscuit or cake at her house, you'd better bring it with you. That's a simplistic attitude that I just can't copy.
