Simplifying Life

Morning all.
Not much simplifying today so far..............more like me getting in a fluster over a photo frame to put Mums old photo in for her...............ended up getting a silvery coloured one, matt finish (all the others were so shiny you could do your make up in them -not that I bother with make up..........lol)
Got some card from the card shop to do a mount (old postcard size is different to new apparently -confused I am)...........now I've looked at the photo and the mount card and think I should have got either a light wood frame or there was a dark one in the shop, nice shape and a bit smaller.........no need for the mount. If only I'd taken the photo with me...........such a simple thing to do...........maybe my brain just wants to be a bit complicated today...............lol
(MIL having flowers...........I can order them over the phone no problem)
Two meetings this afternoon, one after the other...........least I got my paperwork done and double checked it this morning:T
So, my 27/9 will be out of the window today I'm afraid...............oh dear..........still between us, OH and me have done more than 27 items per day over the weekend so think I'm ok with that.
Tomorrow will be a day of rushing about, getting alternative photo frame, sorting photo out, finishing poem that was whirling around in my head for Mums card..........must make note of a few bits of it while I remember.
(Kept verses viv found for me anyway in case mine goes all wrong which is quite likely at the minute....................lol)
So, simplified I'm not..................flustered I am.....................
As Aril would put it..................I'm sitting in my rocking chair going nowhere.............lolMary

Hello virtual friends:j
Just a quick posting today as I am facing the tough challenge of having to go and adore my best friend's new 8 week old puppy. She's an American Akita and called Kali. At the moment Julie describes her as looking like a guinea pig but on long legs but she's going to one big doggy when she's grown up. Ahh well I'm sure I'll be able to rise to the challenge:D Am not a bit overexcited or ever so slightly broody...can you tell:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
The last couple of days tiny thoughts are how very rarely I look at things properly and if you take time to do so the discoveries you make. Sounds ridiculous perhaps but I actually looked at the underside of one of the snowdrops in my garden yesterday and it had the most beautiful green markings. The small person has also laid out all his collection of marbles...I've seen them many times but had thought they were all pretty similar. Wrong!! Some of them are so pretty...real little works of art with all sorts of colours and effects running through the glass yet it's just a humdrum everyday object isn't it that he's bought for pennies with his pocket money from the local charity shops.
Anyway all this musing reminded me of a lovely little book I borrowed from the library some years ago called Everyday Sacred by Sue Bender. At the time I copied out one of the passages which was all about a plain white pot and its owner, Gale's, attitude to it:
"What struck me what that if you can take a white enamel household pot and begin seeing it brand new each time you can do it with anything. If there are 100 ways to see an ordinary white pot, imagine all the possibilities for viewing with fresh eyes an "average" marriage, an "average" child. Gale was telling me a story about relationships.
Each time, the pot was just being the pot, but at the same time it reflected everything that was around it. It was Gale's ability to be present to see, really see- to recognise the sacred in this seemingly mundane pot...."
Wonder what discoveries I'll make if I continue in this nosy vein?

Beautiful calming post as ever Aril - you're right............there are so many supposedly ordinary (if not mundane) things we see from day to day without a second thought...................flowers are something I always make a point of looking at since the days of flower arranging (something I realy should do again)............mums old buttons..............when I was little I would play for hours with them and they still hold the same fascination.
There's no end to the things we normally take for granted that really warrant a bit more of our time.
My days a lot calmer now than it was earlier thank goodness. Sort of mental list so far that I'll put on paper later
Decision made to take Mums old photo with me tomorrow and I'll have a choice of two frames then I can get that job done.
Order flowers for MIL for Sunday otherwise I just might forget,
Managed to create a poem of my own for Mum.......need cream paper to print on
Photo paper to print out photos of grandson and my sons for MIL
Start making card for new baby................OH's niece has had a baby daughter..........Evie:T
While in town today I called in the charity shop (on pretext that might have a frame for me.............lol) and bought an 'organiser book'.............cream with a gold leaf on the front and ties to hold it together. I'll enjoy using that to organise my days/weeks/months.............that way I just might stick to what I intend doing.
Now I need a soft seat................sitting in hard chairs for meetings, kitchen chair for dinner...............backside is somewhat numb:rotfl:
Sofa here I come:jMary

Well, no de-cluttering again today (I'm slipping badly
) Didn't sleep too well last night - thats two nights on the trot and had a lot of little bits and pieces to do in shops this morning.
Managed to get frame for photo for Mum that looks really nice........even cut the mount out to go round it without going wrong..............lol
Anyone else forget to pay for stuff in shops ? Well this morning I did in the craft shop.............cake decorating shop, computer shop and frame shop..............lol Think my brains somewhere else................lol
Even had to consult my list in each shop to make sure I got what I went in for. Must add to lists in future 'pay for item' !!
Mothers day card for Mum now complete ........just have to wrap photo and put it all in jiffy bag to post in the morning.
MIL rang last night to tell OH his niece has a baby daughter -OH said 'Oh Mary will make a card for her'....................... alright for him........he hasn't got to plough through boxes of cards, ribbons, stick ons etc.............I don't really mind but could do without it at the minute.
Got something to post off to the history society where I was born plus need to send a letter to a website owner I ordered a few bits from in Jan and haven't received yet. No answer to e mails or phone calls so letter is next -been advised by Consumer vent board to threaten Small Claims Court ! Never done that before..................still, if it works and I get either my goods or a refund its worth it. Only £11 but it's all money I can't afford to throw away.
Paid by cheque as don't have pay pal thing and cheques cleared ok.
What a performance. Sort of puts me off ordered anything online unless its amazon.............never had problems with them.
So, today will only be simplified if I get these things done so they're out of my head...............otherwise I'll be in that rocking chair for a long long time......................lolMary

Hellooooooooooooo!!
where is everyone today? Busy de-cluttering?
Although I don't post much, this is one of the sites I check everyday when I get home from work. Keeps me happy whilst I scoff my lunch sandwich and slurp my cuppa before I tackle the housework (or not- depends on my mood) . I miss you when you ain't here!
Keep up the inspiration folks!0 -
This is my third day of NOT declutttering,,,,,,,,,,,,,,does this mean I failed my 27/9 ? Or does it mean that because I did more than my 27 a day last week I'm in the clear ???? I do hope so.............can't face any more de-cluttering at the minute...............other stuff to do.
Posted off Mums photo and card and MIL''s card, some history stuff I photocopied to send to a friend .............she doesn't have a computer and the history site of the town we were both born in has some fascinating stuff on so every week I print a load off for myself...........photocopy hers cos it saves my paper and ink.
Still haven't phoned to order MIL's flowers................must do that, plus make card for new grand niece - or at least make a start on it.
Think then I'm done for today.
Managed to sleep through last nights earthquake............glad I did otherwise I'd have been in that rocking chair all night......................lolMary
