I have paid for online entries £10 for 30 entries as l didn’t realise the 0330 phone number was free🤷‍♀️ My mobile provider is 3 mobile.  Can l still enter by phone

I have found this email mentioned in the Ts and Cs of a different Planet Radio/Bauer comp: win@bauermedia.co.uk
It might be worth trying that to see whether they'll say why they've barred your number?

But the thing is I've never entered, or tried, via my contracted phone before yesterday

Out of curiosity - have you won over £500 with them within the last 6 months? (you don't need to answer) It's just really the only reason I could think they'd ban any number!

I phoned my phone provider “3” and asked whether 0330 numbers are free and included in my package (l have a sim only but on a contract). Although “3” don’t charge me for phoning the 0330 phone no the business or in this case the radio station add their charges so it’s not a free call. I hope this helps

So I received this from Bauer today in response to my complaint:

"We have a lot of competition entrants who don't want to pay for their entries via their phone bill as it incurs extra charges with the standard network rate message charged by the networks. Also they want to pay for their entries upfront and not have to wait over a month for their next mobile phone bill to then pay for entries. By changing online entry to card payment this allows those people to pay immediately for their entries.   We still wanted to provide a free route of entry so we have purchased a free phone line. You can't use a landline as that number isn't assigned to an individual. If the call was made from a house phone or an office phone and we call that number back, if it was the winning entry, we wouldn't know who made that call. Anyone in that household or office could claim that they made that call and we wouldn't know who it was. This is an SMS competition so everyone needs to enter with a mobile phone number.   The phone line is free as we don't charge anything to dial it. Some networks may charge a standard network rate message but when I tested it with my mobile before we put the phone line live, I wasn't charged anything by my network. Some competitions use the postal free route of entry, which we could have done for the £250k competition as it's not a daily competition. However, we both know that the cost of a stamp and an envelope isn't free and is far more expensive than a 10p charge from a network if they even charge at all.   We have provided 3 routes of entry, including a free way to enter, so that our players have more options as to how they want to enter to play our competitions.   Thanks,  Bauer Media SMS Help Team" They didn't address my disability complaint, however, but I sincerely doubt that matters to them. It's a business after all, and the majority don't have a disability that makes phone calls difficult.

That’s interesting so are they saying they don’t charge?  It’s quite confusing isn’t it.  Sorry to hear you have a disability x
