Holiday cancellation

Surely in a total loss situation it's better for someone in the wider family to take a holiday even they don't all go?

Personally I'd rather give it (for transfer/admin fees) to a family member or friends than take the loss.

chances are the flights will be booked with an airline that does not permit name changes
