What do their Ts & Cs state about cancellation policy and charges?  It's a common myth that you're only on the hook for the deposit, but not usually true, i.e. you've made a binding commitment, and OTB will often book passengers onto non-refundable flights.

Your best bet is likely to be your travel insurance, if your reason for cancelling is covered there....

seems a lot if it's not til december.
Can you send us a link to your Ts & Cs?

If you can say about the cancellation reason we might be able to suggest if it's likely to be covered by insurance.
    You are insured aren't you?
If you're insured but can't say then you'll need to read or lookup the policy terms on-line.

OTB terms and conditions state for a cancellation over 60 days before departure
"Supplier/Principal's charge + £30 per person cancellation fee to OTB"
It is very likely that flights will be non-refundable so will need to be paid in full

It will be for the non-refundable flight costs.   T&C will no doubt point this out.

Non refundable flights as a few have mentioned but you don’t read all the T&C’s when you book a holiday, most people would assume a deposit is non refundable and that’s the only risk.
Like the airlines wouldn’t sell the flights, it’s in 9 months!

No, disinclination (as it’s called) is not covered.
i don’t think anyone can help.
if you’ve changed your mind and it’s non refundable then your are stuck.

you could ask them if they will transfer it to something else you’d like (at their discretion) or if you could find someone else to take your place and transfer the names.

Just a thought - does TUI's Flex booking deal permit customers to change their minds ?

Seemingly it does, but that won't be any consolation to OP, who didn't book with Tui....
