So many exciting adventures happening 🌍🐢🛳✈️
@f0xh0les- did the boys take the "month worth of snacks" as a challenge to be finished before the boat arrived?
Today has been NSD3, some work, some painting, some time in the garden in the rain and a very small amount of time doing not very much at all.
Grateful for mum helping me in the garden (and getting soaked in the process), my painted wall looking great, and a work challenge being less challenging than expected.

Yesterday was full of minor mishaps but a few things got done (or moved on a stage at least). I was tired, creaky and slow but clean washing is ready to go upstairs, stuff from the WM went in the TD and the duvet went in the WM. Sat outside for a while and did more soil sifting (my weeds bag blew into next door's yard twice and I delayed retrieving it because of the creaky knees).
Came in and did some orders - books for the baby (completing the Large Family collection - 3 handed over already), a book for me which was dauntingly expensive when it was on pre-order but I got an new one at a bargain price and a pre-order of one I'd already looked at (prequel to a series I love and there have been lots of hints - are they still Easter eggs when they're referring back), my pedalling exercise machine (again went for one that was brand new but the box had been opened so a fiver less) and some garden bits.
The hunt for fence panels goes on. Mr Builder widened the gate space which was needed but the space at the side of the gate took a standard 6' x 4' wide panel (the gate space was a bit undersized but together they filled the former 'car port' space which my dad blocked off with 3 old doors a friend gave him and piece of metal nailed diagonally across them) and used the old fittings and back wall (former outside toilet and coal hole). I will sort it but at the moment the 'best' solution seems to be decorative aluminium panels (the free standing panels have a range of aluminium posts 1' to 6' in one foot increments). The corden steel ones (treated so it it looks rusty) would blend well with the terracotta brick and every one else's various brown wood panel/ brick combos but I seem to be getting further away from my original plans. The long wall is longer than a 6' panel sideways but I might squeeze in 2 four foot square ones. More pondering required (steel of powder coated aluminium - pretty colours - would not need painting every year or two)
I managed not to wander too far down the garden sites (some overlap with fencing and lots of pretty pictures of fruit trees, roses, big bags of compost - next time I see an abandoned trolley I'm having it). Spent a few hours on the couch recovering and was glad to go upstairs when DS3 came down (roughly 7 pm) but when I turned the laptop off (my eyes were closing)but then was struggling to go to sleep at gone midnight.
Woke at 7.37 am and had to be downstairs by 8 am for any deliveries. So teeth brushed, quick wash and into my loose but warm dress, gathered stuff and came down. DS3 was on the couch but ready to go back (he'd worked an hour past his planned stopping time. I asked him to draw the curtains back (he has the light on and the curtains closed) and I'm sitting on a duvet (bit chilly and the couch is cold) on the couch with an old blanket over me. I'm so hungry I've eaten before my morning pills and not planning to move any time soon (except for bathroom breaks and to answer the door for parcels).
There wasn't room in my bag for the cookbook I was reading but I have enough ideas for things I used to cook regularly - just need to play fridge and freezer tetris, using up bits and eating bulky stuff first so I have room for the completed masterpieces. But first pills, more food (there are cross buns with my name on) and a little gentle movement .
Grateful for DS3 (giving up the couch, buying me a twix and agreeing with me when I answered his 'I bet you can't guess why I'm fully dressed' with 'You're going to bring the bins back - he wasn't but I don't care as long as he brings them back) and a lovely reply from lovely daughter-out-law to my messaging her.5 -
f0xh0les, I presume you have more sacks of snacks and are rationing them (otherwise they'll be back in a couple of hours. I hope you have a fabulous time.
Shrewbie I believe our version of that is called pobs (something mum remembered fondly - don't get me started on sugar butties and dripping butties).
DawnW shush, you haven't had snow. It's more likely to snow at Easter than that other festival we aren't going to talk about.

Today will be NSD4.
Going to go for a walk in a bog later.... Not sure why, because it is there, or something. I am honestly not sure I could ever live in the country. It bores the bejesus out of me. The sea however is a totally different animal. Mountains are fab. Cities are grand, but just plopped in the middle of fields in nowheresville is just weird. Why would you choose to live somewhere it is not safe to walk along the road? Weird.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Evening turtles
Started the day with some batch cooking and put a load of washing on as the sun was out! Did some yoga and walked to the shop for some veg for the rabbits. Then OH and I went to a family gathering (his side of the family) so have spent most of the day outdoors in a lovely garden enjoying the sunshine. Was a very relaxed day, didn't overdo it food-wise either so am pleased with myself as am trying to be healthier and not just eat for the sake of eating.9 -
Happy Easter to you all! Glad you had a lovely time with your mum, @beanielou.
Another gorgeous day here. DS1&3 were still asleep, so me & DH walked to the site of an old battery from the war. The view from the top was exceptional! Lots of photos taken 😊 When we returned, DH reheated last night's leftovers & 3 of us (DS1 still not feeling well), caught a bus & explored a different part of the city. Nearly had a NSD, but we'd ran out of milk & managed to find a shop that was open.
Spent s relaxing evening watching TV & reading, once I'd find the dishes.
Grateful for another sunny day, seeing a red squirrel (don't have them on our island), more exploring, being 100 pages into another good book.
Last day of our holiday tomorrow...Use it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
