hugs starlight, sending good vibes.
Thanks for all your kind words about my shopping. I'd got very comfortable with my long t-shirt dresses worn with t-shirts over the top for different looks/ necklines but they were all falling to pieces. I swapped for sundresses over t-shirts with leggings underneath and warmer tunic tops in winter. I culled a lot of things I no longer wear last month and I'm not thrilled with a couple of things I bought before Isaac Newton's birthday (2 cheap thin cotton dresses and a warmer dress that was in the sale but I had to get in a slightly larger size and it's big enough to wear a chunky jumper underneath).
The Baptism threw me into a bit of a panic. It's been organised in a rush as the other grandparents are going to Australia to visit/ support their other daughter and the 30th is the last day they're in the country. Only the minister and the church sorted so far - the minister was a friend of the boys' father (and looked after his mother for the last few years of her life) so it's at a Welsh Presbytarian church in Didsbury.
I'd noticed my summer cardigan is getting shabby when I put it on on Sunday - I've had a version of this cardigan for at least 30 years, sometimes having 2 running in tandem (one black or navy, one in a brighter colour). My funeral dress is starting to go (it's had a lot of wear in the past year) and even the jacket (bought to replace the lovely one I bought for my dad's funeral nearly 20 years ago).
I hate clothes shopping but I know what suits me and am very decisive (mainly accommodating magnificent bosom - the bra I wore on Sunday was a 50 G, yesterday's was smaller and my boobs were escaping on all sides).
beanielou the trainers are Skechers. I'd seen online advertising but had to know they worked (not just advertisers puff) and were comfortable (and never sure about what size I am - some brands don't leave enough room for your toes). It's quite a stretch from the days when I would go and see what was in the sale for under a tenner (and only buying because the gym/ exercise class insisted on them). I need to look after my feet so it's a good investment.
I'm awake and not hurting but will be having a quiet domestic day (lots to do, it won't all get done, just be grateful for what I can do).10 -

No adventures but it's been a positive day. Did two loads of washing which are now dried (ironing is abandoned for the moment) and made minestrone soup for dinner using up veg and some frozen cooked pasta. A lot of little jobs and and more decluttering.
Made a list of things I need to do (Himself permitting)
It's been a good day.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.9 -
Hi turtles!
I’ve had the most lovely day. Woke up early (tried to have a lie in but body wouldn’t let me) meditated and wrote and then went outside, it was still early and no one was about. The clouds were beautiful and all the colours seemed really vibrant (maybe there was something in my coffee) I sat on a bench in the sun for a bit, then went back home, did more writing and when it got a bit warmer opened up all the windows and balcony doors and cleaned the flat from top to bottom.Walked to garden centre to look for trailing plants but they didn’t have what I wanted. Walked all the way back, was going to go home but passed the place where the Easter processions will be so I got myself a coffee and a torrija (typical Easter dessert which is basically just bread soaked in milk and sugar) and I’m sat on a grass bank just people watching and waiting for the processions to start. I’ve never seen them in Madrid before so thought I might as well.
grateful for simple but delicious food, for discovering some new music, for a perfect, peaceful day.Student loan £5655

@Shrewbie your day sounds lovely!
Mine has been less exciting, last day at work before 10 days off and typically something really urgent came up that took all day to deal with and set me back dealing with what was actually on my to do list today. But it's all done now, and everything is sorted so I've turned the laptop and the work phone off and now it's time to relax!
I managed an hour at the gym this morning before work too and a fair amount of walking here and there today too so all in all not the worst day. Used my very late lunch break to come home on the train so that I didn't end up leaving work at an ungodly hour.
Not much else to report today, happy long weekend turtles.8 -
Hello allBut nothing spent, so NSD 2Really strange weather today - it has been windy, sunny, cloudy, pouring with rain and hailing! Sometimes more than one at the same time. Surely it can only get better tomorrow?? At least I wasn't out in it I suppose!I need to finalise / close off household spending etc budget for March, so will do that shortlyStarted a brand new accounts book for the new FY (for my small business). I had it in the drawer already, so nothing spent. I don't remember where it came from or how long I have had it, but the one I have been using for years is falling apart, so time for a change.I also need to check the banks and see what is going on as I seem to have a couple of savings accounts maturing. If you don't keep an eye on them, they close the original accounts and shove the balances into new accounts that pay next to zero interest.Grateful today for OH cooking a nice dinner, for not getting wet outside in the elements and the dog's ridiculous behaviour making me laugh.8

Hello turtles,So far I’ve been rubbish at checking in… it’s been a busy start to the month with it being OH and DS’s birthdays, family over from Australia and it being the Easter holidays… I’m feeling exhausted already! We are heading to family caravan on Saturday and I have decided I am switching off for the week. I am going to remove some apps from my phone and limit my screen time to half an hour a day. I just want to relax, go for walks, watch the bunnies and birds, read books and play games with DS, and have OH cook for me and bring me tea 🤣.Grateful today for a walk with Mum, auntie, and DS at a beautiful country park; for auntie paying for lunch; and for neighbours dropping off birthday cards for DS and generously gifting £pounds. DS is needing some new clothes so it’ll go towards that. He was excited when I said he could pick his clothes… he’s at the point where he is very certain about what he wants to wear. Also grateful for bank letter confirming new mortgage completion date: June 2029! But if we keep doing our regular mortgage OPs, this should be 2026… OH and I will be 40.XNST 🐢 & MF before 40 🤸9

ldee - 2026 isn't far away at all!Today's adventure was driving back from Guildford but having to avoid the M25 as it had a 54min delay (for a journey of about an hour!), so I trusted gogglemaps and ended up driving through hail and sleet that was settling on the roads - eek!So, today I am grateful for gogglemaps bringing me safely home, for dc + friend enjoying ice skating, for dying my hair, for hm mushroom soup, for salted caramel magnum ice cream!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!9

Started today with a relaxed morning. Finished my book, made a packed lunch for us all, then after phoning my mum, we set off in our fjord cruise. It was well worth the money. We went quite far up a fjord & the scenery was spectacular! It was very cold, so I was glad of my woolly hat & scarf.
We were to go out for tea with my friend, but everywhere is closed for Easter, so she had cooked us a meal instead. The walk back to the flat warmed us s little & the stew was very welcomed! After tea, me, DH & DS1 went to explore the old part of town. I took LOTS of photos. Hope I've still got enough room on my phone storage for the next 2 days!
Feeling s bit chilly again, so have gone to bed to get cosy.
Grateful for the fjord cruise, home cooked meals, exploring, dry weather again, good booksUse it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃
