And yet again I haven't received the offer. I assume is the lack of activity on my account in past month. I will try to get some listings live without the offer in the next two weeks and hopefully they will put me back on the FVF list.

  • I got a 70% offer accepted by clicking a link on another website.  No messages sent to me offering it though.

Did sell something without an offer a little while ago and they took close to 15% in fees.

Third time I haven't  had the offer for reduced fees.
Selling very little at mo but have paid full fees on last 2 items and "above standard" still with no probs and 100% feedback.
Not sure what ebay criteria  is for working out who gets them.
Have been having mainly -80% for a long time prior to this.

Does everyone end £££ listings and re-list when they get the 70%/80% offers?
Yes, every time. If I get time I sell as 'sell similar' rather than just re list as the US sellers reckon that helps sales, and I'm happy to try anything to get an extra sale or two.
Out of interest why would that be?

I've been a bit lazy recently with listing and just been basically hitting relist on all the unsold stuff everytime I get a new FVF offer. I think this weekend I'm going to renew a lot of the listings and add more stuff as well but why would it make a difference to sales whether its relisted or sell similar?
Ebay have always said that 'old' listings are moved further down the rankings for viewings and new listings are given a small boost. So by selling as 'sell similar' they count as new listings.

Also, they do remove very old listings, I didn't really believe that until it happened to me, I went to put some newly listed things in a box so that I knew where to find them and had a few bits already in there that were listed ages ago. Decided to remove the listings and charity shop the stuff- but they were no longer listed. If I delete from my private account I only do so on the day it is going to the charity shop, so I put the item in a bag and then re list. I would not have removed these listings and left them in storage.

Mind you they were probably listed during lockdown, so they weren't exactly newly listed!
Ah well as I've no plans for Easter Weekend then the free time will be used setting up a bunch of new listings and having a good old clear out weekend.
Soooooo... anecdotal evidence but I have 'sold similar' rather than relist on a lot of my items over the weekend and I'd definitely say I'm getting more interest and bids. Whether it's just coincidence or not who knows but a lot of these items had been sitting around for a while and I had been reducing prices etc but still not getting offers.

So I will be doing 'sell similar' in future.

One theory is sell similar is a completely new listing with no history attached to it so eBay may favour it in the search results compared to relist but whether that's accurate or not who knows, it could just be rubbish weather over the Easter holidays encouraging more people to spend time online.

I'm sure they would track whether the FVF affect your selling behaviour so if you just continue selling anyway without the offers maybe they discontinue them?

I still list on my private accounts during non offer periods, and I am currently still getting the 70% off FVF days .

Just got the 70% offer on FVFs again, I did wonder how long my run of FVF offers would last, but they are still going.
