Does everyone end £££ listings and re-list when they get the 70%/80% offers?

Yes, every time. If I get time I sell as 'sell similar' rather than just re list as the US sellers reckon that helps sales, and I'm happy to try anything to get an extra sale or two.

Yes I also end and re list using sell similar, I prefer sell similar to re list as I like to lose the watchers, I find watchers annoying- whole other thread I know …

Out of interest why would that be?

I've been a bit lazy recently with listing and just been basically hitting relist on all the unsold stuff everytime I get a new FVF offer. I think this weekend I'm going to renew a lot of the listings and add more stuff as well but why would it make a difference to sales whether its relisted or sell similar?

Ebay have always said that 'old' listings are moved further down the rankings for viewings and new listings are given a small boost. So by selling as 'sell similar' they count as new listings.

Also, they do remove very old listings, I didn't really believe that until it happened to me, I went to put some newly listed things in a box so that I knew where to find them and had a few bits already in there that were listed ages ago. Decided to remove the listings and charity shop the stuff- but they were no longer listed. If I delete from my private account I only do so on the day it is going to the charity shop, so I put the item in a bag and then re list. I would not have removed these listings and left them in storage.

Mind you they were probably listed during lockdown, so they weren't exactly newly listed!

Ah well as I've no plans for Easter Weekend then the free time will be used setting up a bunch of new listings and having a good old clear out weekend.

Ive never relisted using "Sell Similar" as I thought it just meant using a similar listing catagory ie. not repeating exactly the same listing .
Normally I just cancel the listings ,click on a new 80% offer then relist the "unsold items" under "relist ".
Something like that anyway but I have never relisted via "Sell Similar" or even knew you could .

Will give it try using this weekends 80% offer .....thanks to all .

( I have forgotten how many days the 80% offer listings last if using buy it now ...is it 30 days ? )

You can even do it in bulk. End current listings and then go to Unsold and not relisted. From there click to add all to be edited and then choose  'sell similar' from options at top of relist page, then just click to relist as similar.

One thing to remember is that they don't then disappear from your unsold folder, so you will need to manually delete them.

You need to do this in order to use the offer, I thought that listings that expired on a FVF offer weekend (that had been on for one month) would automatically renew and count towards the offer.
I tried it once and they get automatically re-listed but not under the offer, for example on the Friday I accepted the offer, and listed 20 drafts I had ready to go. I then had around 75 listings with 1-2 days left and  thought I'd try leaving them to auto re-list thinking they would qualify for the offer. on Monday night I checked the listings page and it had auto renewed all my listings, but I still had 80 listings available! so I manually selected them all , ended, then re-listed.

The T and Cs explicitly exclude items automatically relisted.

I suspect the original question asking if people end and then re list their items was due to an incorrect article from MSE a couple of years ago, that many of us tried to correct, that suggested eBay did not allow people to end and relist their items without penalty.
