Hi all,

Is everyone encountering a lack of FVF offers since New Year? I only received the 80% offer twice this year on both my eBay accounts.
I know it's at random which sellers get it but I used to receive it every 2 weeks before. I wonder if there's a trigger that pushes the offer for certain sellers..

Same here. Got 80% offers every 2 wks but last 2 offers I haven't had.

Having said that my sales are almost non existant so I have put it down to that. Paying full fees (if and when I manage to sell anything) make a huge difference.

Nope I'm still getting them as normal but i always make sue to accept the offer when it arrives even if im not selling. Not sure if it matters but it feels like the right thing to do.

Both my private accounts have been getting 70% FVF offers regularly for months, I think I missed a couple at the end of last year where one or other never got an offer for a month or more. I haven't had an 80% though for well over a year.

Just double check your accounts to make sure you are still above standard , and also double check your seller hub to make sure the offer isn't hidden there as available, I often don't get messages about them until the event is almost over.

I've got 70% offer on at the moment, ending today.

My apologies, I meant to say 70%. I haven't gotten a 80% one either for a long time.

My seller level is above standard as I focus on offering best possible service. I've tried looking at offers hidden and there wasn't one. I tried clicking on the links in the "FREE LISTING email alerts - no chat" but it keeps saying offer has expired.

Depending on which theory you believe :):smile:are you listing a lot or nothing at all?

There are all sorts of theories as to why a very small percentage of people seem to miss the offers, some people say if you are a very occasional seller, ie just waiting for the FVF offer dates and not interacting with eBay otherwise, then you get overlooked. Others say that if you list constantly and have hundreds of items up regularly then they don’t like it and stop offering. However it is obvious that they can’t both be true!

Realistically though there are very few people not getting some sort of offers every few weeks, I haven’t actually seen any ‘proof’ of  what those sellers have in common. Occasionally someone will post on the community boards using their real account, and it’s obvious they are a business with 3,000 listings and a business name  on a private account , others show poor stars or admit to having several defects in seller hub, but nothing really has become obvious for the rest of those not getting offers.

I'd love to know eBay's algorithm for assigning offers to users. I used to get the max £1 fee every 2 weeks. That stopped and I started getting the 80% offer, which I've been getting ever since - for the last year or so - rather consistently. I did get 70% once, and didn't accept it, and 2 weeks later I got the 80% back again, and have done ever since.

Private seller, with around 20 or so listings that I just keep relisting every FVF offer if they don't sell! I only have the odd one or two additional items that I list along with the normal group of items every so often - so I'm a rather casual user!

I believe I missed a FVF in January and since then I haven't been given the offers every two weeks again. If I remember correctly, last year around same period I also missed a FVF and they skipped me for a period after that. So maybe it has to do with not accepting the offer when given.. but as soolin mentioned, it's just a theory.

When they are offering me the FVF every two weeks I try to take advantage of it and list as much as possible so always having between 150-200 items listed. I also have items listed without the offer that are under £20. But had family visit me in past few months and I haven't had much time to deal with eBay every other day and been only looking for FVF offers to relist my items until I can get back to some sort of normal activity with it. Guess I will try to list again regular items and hope they will start including me in the offers.

I believe that everyone "missed" a FVF offer in January. Same thing happened last year, the "expected" offer didn't materialise.

From what I remember, over the last twelve months, DH and I have both had periods of no offers. I don't think that there is a particular reason why some eBay members don't get offers. From what I've read here, some people list lots of things, others hardly any, some get 80% off, some get 70% off, some get offers, some don't. Perhaps it's to do with your date of birth or dislike if white bread? Who knows? The only certain thing is that you could waste a lot of time trying to work out why eBay don't always give everyone FVF offers.
