Alcove Units – Best Solution?

On the hunt for some moisture resistant MDF. Shocked to see just how much some of these companies charge for delivery!
Anywho. Is there a preference of brand? I keep hearing Medite pop up. Seems to be the most popular?
Kronospan and Caber seem to be well respected too?

Oh gawd....Are you planning to p*** all over your units? Hopefully no, so just use normal stuff. :-)0

I was actually!
No, jokes aside... it was mentioned on this thread that MR MDF machines better, takes paint better, doesn't fluff up as much.
And now I've researched elsewhere, others say the same!1 -

What thickness is your kitchen worktop, Casp?1 -
Cheers. These thinner tops do tend to overhang more, I think - it suits it.casper_gutman said:

Sorry I missed this post might be a bit late, Medite is the go to brand for joiners, Caber is the No 1 for flooring so their mdf would be on point.paperclap said:On the hunt for some moisture resistant MDF. Shocked to see just how much some of these companies charge for delivery!

Kronospan I had to look up but seems reputable.
I’ve got to be honest and say I use what my local merchant has in stock.
Delivery unless you are buying in bulk can be a killer, do you have a friend with a van who could pick up what you need from a merchant ?Maybe, just once, someone will call me 'Sir' without adding, 'You're making a scene.'2 -
Thanks! I thought as such.
For a sheet of 18mm Medite (moisture resistant), it's a whopping £76.67 at my local timber merchant. Madness. Not sure if that's good or bad in today's economy... but my god, the stuff ain't cheap!
Economically, it works out better to do my doors at 12mm + 12mm... but, for an extra ~£35 or so, I can do my doors with 18mm and 6mm. Little more streamlined, I think. Plus, extra material for when I screw up!

Right maybe just use standard mdf and spend more time sanding and painting, been a long time since I’ve bought mdf but that’s outrageous!
I think 18 and 6 is bang on but it’s down to your budget.Maybe, just once, someone will call me 'Sir' without adding, 'You're making a scene.'1 -
