Practice Direction 5A applies. Para 2.2 specifically:
https://www.justice.gov.uk/courts/procedure-rules/civil/rules/part05/pd_part05a
There is no mention of what font to use but it must be legible. Use either a serif font such as Times or a san-serif such as Arial or Helvetica.
You can just download the dropbox example I gave you earlier. Once you have done that, you can open in a pdf reader and copy and paste what you need out of it into a new document using whatever software you normally use.

Today I send my defence to Northampton!
I have printed the 12 steps from newbies and following to the tee - just got a question. I filled in the online Acknowledgement as explained, ticking the I intend to defend all this claim box.
The next stage is to send my typed defence, written as per advice on here. My question is, do i send it alone or with any of the paper format of the response pack? Thanks everyone x1 -
Sorry - my other question is - I need to send a copy of my tenancy lease as this is my defence, that parking permits are not mentioned. Do I send with the defence now ? I assume so but dont want to be wrong!0

It is advised in the 12-step checklist that you also send a copy of your defence to the claimants' solicitor but that is based on some problems in the past. I believe that is not necessary anymore as the CCBC will forward a copy of your defence to them. If you are not confident that will happen, you can just CC in the claimants' solicitor on the one you send to the CCBC.2 -

No and:I am not content for the case to be heard 'on the papers' because that seems to disproportionately give an advantage to a legally represented party. I feel strongly after all these years of intimidating demands from this aggressive parking firm and its agents, that I need a voice at an attended hearing. You will have to download the form and use a text box overlay for D1 and then paste the above test into that text box. I found Arial 9pt to fit perfectly.
I wish to question the Claimant about their evidence at a hearing in person and to expose omissions and any misleading or incorrect evidence or assertions.
Given the Claimant is a firm who complete cut & paste parking case paperwork for a living, having this case heard solely on papers would appear to put the Claimant at an unfair advantage, especially as they would no doubt prefer the Defendant not to have the opportunity to expose the issues in the Claimants template submissions or speak as the only true witness to events in question.1 -
