It's a punt where you don't lose your stake, with similar odds (of winning something) to PBs, but it's easier to get your money out.

Got to be worth a spare £100, no?
Where are you getting the odds of winning something from please? All that is disclosed by Chip is that there is a total of 1302 prizes up for grabs. The prize rate, or total number of entries chasing those prizes is not known. However, when previously disclosed (in a misleading financial promotion they had to pull shortly thereafter), it was a lot lower than PB.
By similar I actually meant considerably less, obviously. The only real advantage is the easy access. Not trying to promote this as a serious savings opportunity but I'll leave 100 quid in there because it's better than Paddy Power and I'm extraordinarily lucky.

That was my reasoning as well. I’ve got the minimum £100 in the savings account, may just win something, and not exactly losing a vast amount of interest on it 😏

Is anyone concerned about the security of the chip app? Basically it doesn't require any authentication once you are in your phone. I suppose money isn't accessible as it can only go to and from your linked account but even so, in these days of over the top security I was surprised by this.

Mine requires biometrics or PIN verification when it is opened. Check your security settings.

Is anyone else having issues accessing the Chip app today (Tuesday 21st March) I am only getting a 'try again' button and pressing it doesn't do anything but show 'try again'. I have messaged them online, twitter and emailed three hours ago and no-one has answered.  I am getting anxious that I can't access my money and am hoping it is a whole server issue but there is no update to advise on this.
Same problem for several hours..still not working and no response to email yet
I've found it doesn't work on my WiFi...works fine if I use mobile network!!
    Who is your ISP?

Have you tried it over someone else’s WiFi?
ISP is Vodafone...working fine on Sky ISP

So you have narrowed it down to an issue with Vodafone. Hope they can sort it for you.

I googled "is chip app down" and got the reason although it's still a bit weird that nothing has been reported on the app itself apart from technical reasons.

You've revived a thread from a year ago.
  • Yes, I’m getting app is undergoing maintenance message on my iPad on Sky isp
  • I can’t access CHIP today, 20 March 2024, on an iPhone 13 Pro Max, on WiFi or on O2.
Attempted login just shows the white screen, the CHIP logo, and ‘try again’.
Anyone else have the problem and or the solution.
