30 days… and fixed has a £50 exit fee. Hence the procrastination :) I think I'm still at the point where Agile wins out, but that may change in the next week or so. I did check Flux as well, but that doesn't make sense for me at the moment as I don't want to be exporting at peak time.

I'm basing it on what you wrote: your husband stayed up to turn it on and someone got up early to turn it off. Provided you have representative slots that are dominated by the under-floor heating you can estimate the rest. I'm not saying you should do this, but you may well have spent months being on a more expensive tariff.

When Agile is good, it's good on most days; currently it can only saved by the plunge pricing, and it's easy to overestimate the benefit of that.

And therein lies the issue - there were no slots that were dominated in that way. I even mentioned in the post you trawled back 7 pages to find that we had run other appliances as well. Had I spent "months" on a more expensive tariff I can assure you I would have known about it - indeed our October average was around 10p/kWh, so I'm really not worried on that score! Perhaps it might be a good idea for you to simply accept that not everyone wants or needs to get quite so hung up on the figures as you do Bob - quite frankly your scrutiny of my way of working doesn't feel like the best use of your time and energy!

The exit fee is the other thing I'm not comfortable with. We've already had to go there with the gas - no viable option around that - and allowing that I'm certain we will want to return to Agile at some stage, hopefully not that far away, I'm reluctant to tie myself in there. It could be worth me working out whether the flexible version of Cosy could (assuming they don't insist on yhou having a heat pump?) be better for me than variable in the short term. Time to consult the comparison again and see what it says, I think.

Variable Cosy does look rather attractive. 4p off the SC, 28p standard rate looks a bargain compared to current Agile prices, dodging the evening peak is as natural as breathing and 3p a mile to drive the car is acceptable.

I'll still wait for the fallout (hopefully not a nuke on Iran) from the Mid-terms before I commit.

Prices tomorrow are a hair better, but really not much, and the rest of the week is looking worse again. I think we are likely to have a conversation this evening about jumping on to SVR for a while. I think I've just reached the limit of my tolerance for sitting it out allowing that the weather forecast isn't looking wildly optimistic either!

    Edit
Email sent to move to the SVR. Will be keeping a keen eye on the Agile predictor though to see what I’m missing/decide when a jump back might be sensible!

@EssexHebridean , no, heat pump isnt needed - nobody ever asked me since I switched from Agile at probably sinilar time 6 months ago when the war started and prices werent that good. If not the leaving fee I would have come back to Agile like 10 times since!

Anyway, definition of heat pump is quite loose.. A2W, A2A, all portable types, air con, car air con, fridge..

I treat cosy like E7 tarrif with split night rate.
