Everything in this house is going to be very, very clean by the end of today! 19.6 kWh used so far and the house is around 20C downstairs and 19C upstairs just using plug in rads and electric towel rails - they didn’t go on until 5am and it’s a bit dry in the house (it was already by 6ish). I hope my neighbour who appears to burn old telegraph poles on his fire won’t have it lit today as we may need to open the windows occasionally to cool off!

I just signed up for Agile expecting it to start midnight tonight. But my confirmation email says it starts 12am on the 5th - which to me means midnight last night 🤷

Is that just me misunderstanding 12am 5th? Do I need to start heating the garden?

yep - get everything switched on!

House is toasty warm and all the underfloor heating plus the two oil filled rads are on. Dehumidifier is running upstairs. Washing machine did a drum clean late last night and has been running consistently since - the plan is that by the end of the day everything bar what we stand up in will be clean, and I’ll try and get a load of towels tumble-dried too. Dishwasher is on a hot wash. Oven is on with lamb, and will be doing assorted roasted veg shortly too, both for lunch and for use through the week. Currently standing at earnings of around £1.50 and expecting that to increase rapidly from now through until 1600.

    Happy Agile day, everyone!

I'm away this week, shame I'm not on Agile as could have run the heating pretty much none stop with no discomfort.

I'm not exiting my fix though as I expect the deep dark depths of winter will be grim when most generation is gas and Trump has left the world in a whole load of chaos.

I am new to the negative Agile rates, I understand when the weather is bad to use as much as possible, but my solar panels are generating 3kwh+ at the moment and not sure whether I should still be hammering the electric or should I be following my usual pattern of using the solar I am producing? I do not have a battery as my usage is on the lower side. Current Agile rate is -9.63, but goes to -11.67 in the next 30 mins. I just want to utilise the best I can and want to be doing it right.

    Thanks

Is your export tariff with Octopus? If it is, is it Outgoing Fixed or Outgoing Agile?

If you're on Outgoing Agile, export payments are near zero and so the most moneysaving option is to make use of as much electricity as you can, so you end up as a net importer and earn some money from the negative Agile prices.

If you're on Outgoing Fixed, you'll need to decide for yourself whether the Agile earnings from import will be worth more than the lost export payments.

I am on Outgoing Octopus the 12p rate and that is why I am confused which is best as I get 12p for any exported, but save 11.86p at the moment for usage, so is it cancelling each other out? I am so confused which is best, which was why I was checking. Yesterday and other days have been easier as solar not as good, is it only me wanting the clouds to cover the sun lol
