I think i'm going to switch from the standard tariff to this, going to give them a call on Monday - can i ask what the notice period is if prices were to spike if I were to ask to be put back on the standard rate? I've only been with Octopus for a couple of months but really impressed with them so far.Inigo_Montoya said:I moved to Agile last month due to the 6 month wait for tracker - Agile works for me due to my usage pattern & at the moment its cheaper than the capped SVR anyway whatever your usage pattern
It is a risk though as prices could spike well above the cap even with the EPG discount (which ends July 1st) so you really have to be checking the prices daily IMO & be ready to possibly move back to the SVR at very short notice
Also I have just noticed that the standing charge has NOT increased today (mine is still about 41p per day) which I assume is another small benefit as my understanding is that the standing charges on many(all?) SVRs increased today

I signed up online without any human interaction via https://octopus.energy/agile/
you can check past & current prices in various ways including here https://agileprices.co.uk/1 -
just received my first bill on agile & interestingly they just amalgamate all the different unit price you pay each hour into one average price for the billing period
personally I would rather have a bit more detailed breakdown for verification purposes but at least the average figure is below what I was paying before i.e. about 25p per KwH (VAT inclusive)1 -
I've applied online to switch over from Standard rate- already with them & have a SMETS2 smart meter - how long did it take them to switch you over to Agile?Inigo_Montoya said:just received my first bill on agile & interestingly they just amalgamate all the different unit price you pay each hour into one average price for the billing period

Are there not several pages of detailed info after the first page? On Tracker it's an extra 2 or 3 for a month, but on Agile it should be LOADS.Inigo_Montoya said:just received my first bill on agile & interestingly they just amalgamate all the different unit price you pay each hour into one average price for the billing period

Scroll right down to the bottom of the bill, past the pages with contact info etc and there will be a page for each day included in that bill. The figures are only averaged for the summary on the first page.Inigo_Montoya said:just received my first bill on agile & interestingly they just amalgamate all the different unit price you pay each hour into one average price for the billing period

afterr you apply you get an email with a link you have to click on to accept the new terms & conditions1 -
For those not familiar with Octopus’ tariffs that base billing on 30 minute usage rather than index readings, it is worth noting that any data loss or corruption ( that is: the loss of one or more 30 minute usage period) will stall monthly automatic billing.Octopus has manual procedures to attempt to recover this data but they are not always successful. The fallback position is that they will bill you at the flexible rate.3

If you have not checked your Agile pricing for tomorrow there is in my app 1.5 hours between 1.30pm and 3.00pm where the pricing is 0.0p. Either side of that very low unit prices.Make the most of it !1

I've had the email about switching to tracker on 1 July. Cant decide whether to stick with Agile for electricity or go with Tracker for both. What would others do?#39 - Save £12k in 20250
