  • I don’t think temperatures will be that close to zero but it looks like Electric rates will be this weekend

Sunday, Monday too at the moment, although looking at the forecast for sunday suggests none of us will have any laundry left to wash and dry after that!

I need to get a load through tonight to get line dried tomorrow as MrEH needs rugby kit washed ahead of Saturday. I'll certainly be holding fire on doing any more towels until Sunday though! (Just annoying that Sunday, with us at least, is not looking like such a good line drying day).

If anyone can hear a groaning noise, it will be my washer-dryer, oven and probably the slow cooker gearing up for a very busy day tomorrow! 😆

My oil filled radiator will be joining that lot in several on-off sessions with the negative and free slots. Lots of programming the Tapo. The immersion will also replace gas heated water overnight, and the batteries will be topped up.

That negative rate at 22.30 looks good for it continuing overnight into Monday.

Ooh oil filled rad is a good shout! Might go and grab ours in from the office. I’ve got an unused Tapo that can get brought into action too!
I’ve managed to work out programming the bathroom underfloor heating and there will be a note left out to remind whichever of us gets up first to shove the kitchen underfloor on as well because we may as well give that a proper run - we turned it on briefly as an experiment last winter, felt slightly faint at the energy use and turned it right back off again! When we can use it at a cheaper cost than the GCH though I’m all in favour! The central heating thermostat is also turned to permanent setback - don’t want to risk it kicking in unplanned in the morning!

Reminders set to prompt me to set the WM and the DW…

Plan on using the bread machine, slow cooker and baking a cake too. Washing machine (which doesn't use much to be fair) and the tumble drier to dry the sheets on what looks like it will be a wet day will also come into play.

Might also drag the dehumidifier into play too! Perhaps even some ironing.

Welcome to UK weather, Monday had one of the most expensive days since I joined, today one of the cheapest! Just wish there was an easy way to turn rain into electricity!
  • This Agile thing is quite the fun game, isn’t it! Current state of play here is kitchen underfloor heating doing its thing at a fraction of the cost of gas, bathroom = same. Oven on with a shoulder of lamb which will be gently cooking away for the next few hours. First load of washing ran through overnight and is now on the airer with the dehumidifier running, second load is in and I’m hoping to get half an hour of free tumble drying for that a bit later. So far today we have used a little under 9kWh which Octopus estimates will cost us 13p - and in the process have also saved probably 50p of gas, too.

It can get a bit much. Need to tweak some of my automations and could do with some automatic window openers.
