Not very hard at all because it is a very profitable scam as people just hand over their hard earned money - unlike yourself:-"Steve Gooding, director of the RAC Foundation, said:“If only the rest of the economy was booming like the private parking sector, perhaps we’d all be feeling more prosperous.“Private parking looks set to be a billion pound-a-year business, if it isn’t already, with demands for up to £100 a time being sent out to drivers at the rate of more than one every three seconds."3

A friend of mine who rebels against anything like this, has put a notice in his windscreen saying anyone who photographs his car has to pay him £1000!
I might try that if I have to leave my car there again!!Will the fact I've admitted to being the driver and that I was there go against me if they do go to court? And do you advise I ignore any more communication now until it comes to that?0 -
Your friend is a fool if he thinks that will workdb3333 said:A friend of mine who rebels against anything like this, has put a notice in his windscreen saying anyone who photographs his car has to pay him £1000!

Ask your friend how he'll know who took the photo and how he's going to recover the 'fine' he is imposing? 😩
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

And what's the legitimate interest that goes above & beyond a need for simple recovery of loss; the justification that will save his £1000 from being an unenforceable penalty?!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

At this point, I don't think you've even had an LoC so nowhere near any court process at the moment.db3333 said:Will the fact I've admitted to being the driver and that I was there go against me if they do go to court? And do you advise I ignore any more communication now until it comes to that?
I think you've been admonished for this faux pas already. However, now may be a good time to re-visit the Newbies/FAQ thread, second post, and read up on what happens next and what you will need to do and when. You can then have a look at the numerous examples of defences that you will be using if it ever gets that far.db3333 said:
I had to say it was me driving because my husband is due to renew the mortgage later this year and if they do take it to court he can't afford to risk a CCJ.

You don't risk a CCJ even if you lose, not if you follow our advice. A court claim doesn't = a CCJ.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I don't think my friend is ever planning on taking any action to recover the £1000, I think it's just a p@$$-take to show their tickets mean about as much to him as that notice does to them!He has too much time on his hands maybe
I'll go back to the Newbies thread and look for the answers to my question, thank you all.Forgive my ignorance but what's an LoC??0
