E.ON Next Tariff Renewal
I have been on a fixed price tariff with E.ON Next that ends on 31st March. I received an email with the following;
"You'll stay on your current prices until your tariff ends on 31 March 2023. Then at the end of your contract, you'll automatically move on to our standard variable Next Flex tariff."
However when I look at my account online it says the following;
"You'll stay on your current prices until your tariff ends on 31 March 2023. Then at the end of your contract, you'll automatically move on to our standard variable Next Flex tariff."
However when I look at my account online it says the following;
It’s time to renew your tariff.
Check out our tariffs and switch to the one that’s right for you.
Renew your tariff
I am assuming that it is just a bit sloppy from E.ON and that there is no difference between me renewing and them doing it automatically.

No difference. AIUI even if you "choose" it, you'd stay on your fix until the end.
They just don't appear to have changed their software to account for the current situation, compared to when fixes were available.

You won't get the quoted price, as it'll change on the 1st April.How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)1 -

The one thing I had thought was that if I did chose the tariff now instead of letting E.ON do it on 1st April is that they might increase my direct debit earlier than they otherwise would have.0 -
My fix ended last month and that message appeared in my account.The only option available was/is NextFlex therefore I would expect a transfer to NextFlex would have happened anyway without selecting the "renew your tarrif" option.My DD wasn't increased until after the fix ended. One thing I think is a bit "off" is the DD is based on annual spend divided by twelve. It doesn't appear to take into account any credit already on the account. I queried this with them and received a nonsensical word salad in response!I expected the DD to be annual cost less credit/12.1

You do know your DD isn't your bill don't you?
How accurate is there quote, as far as your usage goes?
Just leave it to default onto Next Flex. Nothing to be lost by doing that.How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)1 -
On Sunday, I emailed E.ON Next asking them to refund my credit balance. They emailed back on Tuesday saying that it would be in my bank account within 7 to 10 working days.oldagetraveller1 said:My fix ended last month and that message appeared in my account.The only option available was/is NextFlex therefore I would expect a transfer to NextFlex would have happened anyway without selecting the "renew your tarrif" option.My DD wasn't increased until after the fix ended. This amount then appeared on my account online yesterday and if it follows my previous refund request (last November) I will have it on Monday. This being the BACS three day window timescale.
I hadn't considered the DD but it sounds like I have timed my refund request well.0 -
I have just clicked on "Renew my Tariff" online and it said my DD would be increased from 1 April 2023.
Fortunately I was able to press the back button and I remain on the old DD.
I now need to consider if it is worth doing a month early, for example double the cashback on Santander 123 Lite a month earlier.

Fixes aren't fixed, unless you let them be. You can terminate a fix at any time - some for free, some with an exit fee, but as soon as you requested it, it would change.
And don't see why different now.
To the system, its just another tariff, and you are requesting it.
I would leave it to the auto to be safe.0 -

Why didn't it switch right away - if you requested it ?oldagetraveller1 said:My fix ended last month and that message appeared in my account.The only option available was/is NextFlex therefore I would expect a transfer to NextFlex would have happened anyway without selecting the "renew your tarrif" option.My DD wasn't increased until after the fix ended. You can terminate fixes at any time as a rule z yes / no ?
I've ended early in past.
Re refund - ebss credit might have been interfering with billing, so not give full amount until later.
Others been told or given less than credit. My last dd with the 67 offset is at end of month - wouldnt expect that 67 back for instance.
EOn in past have auto refunded me then recalculated DD from a zero start point iirc last time c£200 in summer 21 annual review - sounds like EOn Next maybe not as good.
I've been upping my DD myself with each Ofgem cap period - so my account says my DD OK, but also says my account has been checked and I can request a refund. Didn't press it. And didn't see any figures.
Waiting to see if Hunt freezes epg, because if he doesn't and rates go up another 12p ? for electric as ML tables - that's going to add up quickly - even in April - as that's not a summer low use month here - and I'm all electric0 -
I don't know about other energy companies but with E.ON Next the fixed rate remains unchanged until the end date whatever I choose to do.Scot_39 said:
