  • Sya your week ahead looks busy but in a lovely way. What i love most about this forum is how to live such a great life without the kind of headline figures people say you need in retirement.  Of course,  individuals vary in their needs but you are definitely living your best life. 😍 Great buy on the beef although I adore lamb so will look out for that . We have a new aldii opened by us and it's closer than asda so tend to use them although I haven't seen any great offers in there to be honest. Weather here in the midlands has been a bit milder here and although we've had some more hard rain , thankfully the roof hasn't leaked again. Recipes for the week look yum but have to say I never have any spare wine to cook with, let alone feeeze😁

    All caught up.

So pleased DS had a surprise visit 😊

Goose lasagna is very posh.  I used to get a whole one, with head and neck attached, for £5. Don't know anyone who got corn grown this year.

Check if your bus co does a return ticket any cheaper as that's a bit steep.
Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.
  • Duck, goose and venison were free MF from friends and family. . Nowt posh abaht us 😆 just part of country life ☺️

The duck was delish, roasted in the oven then shredded and added to warmed teriyaki sauce on a wrap with shredded spring onions and cucumber with roasted butternut squash chips 😋

Plans for today have changed slightly. I am going to the range with my friend & will look at Christmas cards and gifts then we are having a late breakfast in the cafe. This afternoon will be card writing and tree decorating. I can’t believe it’s the 4th Dec already

  • I have moved money from various pots and paid off my credit card in full. (Car insurance/ mot & service / Xmas pot)

    Pots are now

Diy interest pot £0 - will be added to in feb

Visiting family £25 - will be added to from 2 x council tax free months feb/march

    Annual bills £380 (100 pm)

    Car fund      £535. (50pm)

    Xmas/bday £379. (50pm)

The only spending in December from pots should be Xmas / birthday presents. So I will put all those spends on my credit card from now and then pay it off in full when the bill is produced after 3 January. Then I can do one transfer from the pot rather than dribs and drabs into my current account.

Morning SYA - hope you enjoyed your brekkie/ & Christmas decorating 😊

i know you have the bonds that you pull your monthly wage from, but was wondering.  Do you have a plan what you would do if something expensive happened, forbid, for example to the house or car that wasn’t covered by insurance?  I know you have the pots but wanted to ask about any plans in place if you had an expensive issue?

Just interested not trying to jinx you!!

  • Had a lovely fry up thanks Suze. Haven’t done any tree decorating yet 😆

Just to answer your question about emergencies. The bonds cannot be drawn from until maturity.  I start my year (April) with £10000 to live off in my savings instant access account and that reduces monthly as I take £833 a month into my current account. I have £5000 in my 6% instant access account which I could use in case of emergency and I have a credit limit of £3200 on my credit card. I would hope nothing major would happen with the house. The roof was updated and resealed and soffit & gutters replaced when I moved in. The boiler is new with the remainder of a ten year warranty. If my car was written off I could get to the shops on the bus or lifts with friends / family when they do their shopping until I could get a replacement.

When my bonds pay out in feb I should get about 4k so I will put £1k into an emergency fund.
