Your doing so well. It’s good to declutter I have just started again. I lose momentum and give up. I’m also using up what I have in the freezers. Making a meal plan each week. Good start to the year xx
Good luck with the decluttering & using up of freezer food Mrs_Money_Penny. I find decluttering so cathartic, tidy house, tidy mind and all that. I find having too much 'stuff' quite stressful. I am trying to do the same with my freezers too. I have two small ones but both are full to the brim and am slowly meal planning around them. I need to write a list of what's in them again as that really helps and stops me buying more of something we already have. I just need to go through them all first...

  • Great work on paying off the CC, I bet that feels good! Also amazing work on the decluttering, I am pants at that! Good luck selling DS books. Hopefully if you remove all the bookcase bit and its now dried, can be replaced more easily than you think, keep an eye out of market place to see if you can upcycle an old bookcase! We made shelves in our alcoves, it was easier than I anticipated, they are sturdy and the size I wanted!

Thanks Aimingforthegoodlife, great idea but I think most of it is beyond salvage unfortunately. They're kitchen cupboards which are very old and have been repurposed at least once, so haven't done bad! It all looks a bit better in there now I've tidied up though, so I may leave it a bit longer until I get it replaced. I think I may also be able to do most of the work myself with a little bit of help from OH. The plumbing will obviously have to be done professionally as it's past my remit, but that shouldn't be too costly - hopefully. It can wait for another few months anyway.
Once I've cleared out the boiler cupboard and the second cupboard in there I think it will be a lot better. It's on my list to do.

I've had a clumsy few days of breaking things. :( First, I accidentally smashed a lovely mug DS got for Christmas which I was gutted about, he wasn't that bothered - "it's only a mug, Mum!" I'll replace it with another shortly as I feel bad. I've also broken two freezer drawers in 24 hours - one fell out of the freezer an smashed and the other I pulled too hard when it was wedged. Lastly, I snapped a cross bar on DS's chest of drawers when moving it which I was really annoyed about. It can be glued/fixed, but will do that another day.

The surplus piece of furniture was picked up and £35 was made there, the larger replacement is arriving today along with the two rugs I ordered.
Two sets of DS's books were also sold on FB so he has £20 to put in his savings from those which is more than he would have got on ziffit. There's still 10 books left but we'll ziffit those if they don't sell by the weekend.
I've also listed a couple more items on FB and have about 8 pieces of clothing on my bed to list on vinted before the day is out. It feels good to finally get things done!

I've pretty much sorted the box room/my office and it's looking much tidier. I also have a shelf in the storage unit spare, so am not constantly moving one thing to get at another. I've sorted quite a bit from there for the charity shop and along with some bedding I don't use very often, a couple of clothing items and some kitchenware, I've managed to almost fill another black bag to drop off tomorrow. I'll go round the house shortly and see what else I can get rid of! I've also tidied all of DS's old school work from the last year and put it in folders to keep for a little while in case he needs to refer to any of it.

I need to put some cash in the bank this weekend and also need to send a piece of jewellery off to sell. I'm not sure how much I will get for that but it shouldn't be any less than £60. I also need to post the first ziffit box which I'll do tonight when I pick up some groceries as there's a locker nearby.

Four more items are due to leave the house today too - a mirror I no longer use which I've given away on FB and 3 food items I've listed on Olio. Hopefully they're all collected.

The furniture arrived so I spent about 2 hours yesterday putting that together. :# I’ve dropped the big cardboard boxes off at the recycle centre this morning then straight to the big new charity shop close by to hand over the two bin bags full of donations. I would have loved a little time to browse around the charity shop (which is more of a warehouse size) but no time today as I was in a rush to pick up DS from his Dad’s. At least those two bags are out of the way now though as well as the box of books which I dropped off at a postal locker last night.
I didn’t get to the bank yet as they close stupidly early around here, but I used the cash in my purse for the groceries in Aldi last night instead of the card and have transferred the £30 spent into a savings pot instead - same principle as paying the cash in.

Today will be spent doing some more washing, ironing and pottering as DS is going to play football with some friends close by so I can’t stray out of the house. I may give the bathroom a good clean too and finally put the spare tiles in the loft. Exciting stuff for a Saturday, eh?! 😁

The boxes of tiles are in the loft, the second load of washing’s in the machine and the bins and recycling is sorted and bins have been cleaned out. I’ve just walked to the post office to post the gold jewellery to HGM as the prepaid postal bag arrived this morning so that will bring a few more £’s in within a few days.
I may go and get the vinted stuff photographed and listed, I didn’t get chance yesterday.

Thank you Mrs_Money_Penny, you’re decluttering figure is looking impressive too, is that how many items you’ve decluttered this year?

I’ve listed 6 items on vinted which is pretty much 95% of the pile I had ready. The washing’s done, dried and put away and I’ve chopped some veg that needed using up ready for tea tonight. The only things left on my list to do is to to buy travel insurance, sort the second utility cupboard and shelves and do a freezer stock take, all of which will be easier for me to do in the week.
I’m currently sat with my (fake) fire on, listening to the local radio station from my ‘home’ area, thanks to digital radio. Makes me feel a bit more at home. :)

Yes it is the number of items I have decluttered. However a lot is digital. Emails & photos that I’m doing while sat down in the evening. Trying to make space on my phone which has hundreds of photos of my pup on. xx
