The weather has been wild today! Lots of standing water on the roads. Made sure my son knew to be very careful driving to work. (He is 18 and only past his test a month ago!)Debt free Feb 2021 🎉1

We’ve had horrendous weather today too Elisheba and drawingaline, with lots of flooding around. I hope your son took care on the roads, @Drawingaline.Our street floods but thankfully it hasn’t ever made it up to any houses as far as I know, just the road and pavement. It makes me nervous for the future though. The route we have to take to my parents house was in the amber warning zone all the way and as much as I’d like to have been there by now, I’m glad we didn’t set off in this storm.I was kindly given some &ldi gift vouchers for Christmas (we do practical gifts in my family
) so I’ve sent £25 to the mortgage from the funds I’d already allocated to the grocery budget to offset one of those. I may do the same with another one later in the month but I don’t want to leave the bank account too low in the meantime. The mortgage now stands at £68,565.
We had to pop out earlier for milk and bread as we’d completely run out. I picked up a couple of other bits on offer and spent £5.08 in total. Unfortunately not Aldo, so I couldn’t use the voucher, so it’s come out of the grocery budget.
DS has come back from a few days at his Dad’s looking absolutely wiped out with tiredness, wearing filthy clothes as he said there’s no clean clothes there, and with unwashed, greasy hair as they apparently haven’t fixed their shower 3 years on from it breaking down. The first thing he did when he came home was to take a hot shower and put on clean clothes. He’s actually been asking to go to bed early tonight as he feels so exhausted due to lack of sleep at his Dad’s, so it’ll be an early night for us both tonight. Oh, and his father also handed me two sets of unwashed, stinking school uniform back to me from before the Christmas break. How lovely. 😒 I really do question what my younger self was ever thinking…Mortgage @ 03/2019: £125,000, Now: £51,706.16

He is very much like his father in some ways badmemory, but for now, and I am hoping for the future too, he has a lot more grace, compassion and kindness than his father. He is not a selfish soul whereas his father is only ever concerned about himself, so I’m praying that continues. The more time he spends with my family and away from his father’s environment, the happier and more relaxed he seems to be. It says a lot really.Mortgage @ 03/2019: £125,000, Now: £51,706.16

Looking at my signature, I just realised that I hadn’t updated the mortgage OP’s to 2024, so have reset the total to zero again and added the OPs so far this year which total £33.15. I sent around £1940 in OP’s to the mortgage in 2023 which is annoying as I would have found the extra £60 to make it up to £2K if I’d paid attention to the totals before the end of the year, so I’d like to aim for £2000 in 2024. £100 gets swept to the mortgage every pay day as a regular OP so I need to find another £800 to reach my target.Mortgage @ 03/2019: £125,000, Now: £51,706.16

Thank you HSL2 and Elisheba, yes, wouldn't change DS for the world.
Unfortunately we're not going to be able to go to my parents today, possibly at all now, despite the sky being blue and (slightly) sunny here today. DS was up most of the night with a horrible hacking cough and we've had no more than a couple of hours of sleep. I couldn't physically drive that trip today without falling asleep and we can't risk giving this cough to my parents. I'm gutted as we're not going to get chance to see them for some time now.

So sorry you can't get to see your parents. Hope DS cough clears up quickly. Take care of yourself. (((hugs))) X
I Believe.....
That it isn't always enough, to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.

Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present.

So sorry to hear that you won’t now see your parents. Hope your sons cough disappears. The weather is miserable I’m totally fed up with it xx2025 Decluttering 10472⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
