Hopefully one day your DS will see his father for the manipulative selfish person he sounds like.  It is a shame you and your DS cannot move nearer your parents as it sounds like you need more support and their health issues presumably mean they cannot travel to you.
I’m so sorry enthusiasticsaver, I must have missed your post previously.

Yes, I hope DS sees the truth for himself when he is older and doesn’t let his father manipulate him. I have had to keep several emails and correspondence which disprove many of the lies his father has told people about me over the years. I also have lots of correspondence from his father saying things he then has gone on to deny he ever said - typical narcissistic abuse. If DS realises the truth and asks to see these when he is an adult, they are there. You really wouldn’t believe the carp the ex has said over the years. It must be difficult living such a web of lies. We now believe he is falsely claiming for a disability (he doesn’t have) or is planning to for financial gain. I don’t know how he sleeps at night.

You’re correct in saying my parents are unable to travel now. It’s been 5 years since they travelled here last and at the time it was obvious it was too much for them, now it is out of the question. They are amazing parents and are so kind and help as much as they can, but I don’t tell them half of what I go through, it would worry them to death if I did. It is such a huge regret of mine that I didn’t move back when we split but I thought I was doing the right thing for other people at the time, mainly DS and the ex, but thinking of others did nothing for me in the long run unfortunately. It is not an option now, but I keep telling myself that DS will be finished with school in just over 3 years and then things may be different. Hopefully for the better. Xx

I forgot to mention that I sent another £5 OP to the mortgage this past week to take it down under the £69K mark. It now stands at £68,999.95  I’m sure I can find the odd 95p to send to it this week!
This £5 OP also took my total OP’s (since 2019) up to over the £8K mark. I’m really pleased with that figure considering I worked P/T for most of those years and had some huge financial and personal issues to deal with too. Onwards and downwards (with the mortgage) from here!

Today brought me a puddle of water in the kitchen from a leaking radiator, a screw through one of the new tyres on new the car and - the weirdest one of all - the discovery that a group of local neighbourhood jackdaws/crows or whatever they are, have pulled all of the silicone sealant off around the outside frame of my front door in strips like rubbery silicone worms, then dumped it all on my doorstep and across the pavement outside. It could only happen to me. The tyre repair cost me £24 today, now I need to find a plumber, someone to re- seal the door frame and a money tree.

Thinking of you and hoping things are going well for you.  ((((hugs)))) XX
    I Believe.....
That it isn't always enough, to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery
Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present.

happiness isn't achieved by getting extra things,
but by getting rid of the things that make you unhappy
  • Thinking of you and hoping yesterday wasn’t to upsetting for you. Take care xx

Thank you for thinking of me Chrystal and Mrs_Money_Penny, I hope you both had a lovely Christmas.

Christmas Eve to Boxing Day were really quite rubbish if I’m being honest, but I coped ok as I felt like DS and I had already had Christmas Day with my family in the days before. I did get upset at time over the Christmas period but I’ve got through it. I’ve decided to take DS and I back to see my family again next week as we both were upset to leave them and wanted more time there. I have to work, but can work from there and DS will have company whilst I’m doing so.

The weather today has been horrendous so we haven’t been able to do much and haven’t left the house. DS is a bit bored and has been on screens most of the day which I feel bad about, but there’s been nothing much else to do.
OH is still here - he has been here since Christmas Eve and it has reminded me why we don’t live together and probably never will. I love him, but I find some of his habits infuriating and my patience is wearing thin. I feel like I have been constantly picking up after him, doing dishes and reminding him I’m not incapable through clenched teeth. He actually tried to show me how to chop an onion today as he didn’t think the way I was doing it was the best. I’m amazed you’ve not seen me on crimewatch by now. I think he’s irritating DS too and it has meant these few days with DS have not been as I would have liked.

I sorted DS’s clothes today as he had so many new ones for Christmas. A bag has been put aside for a relative, one for charity and drawers swapped around. I need to buy him a bigger chest of drawers soon too.
I’ve given away a bag of school uniform that was too small today and advertised some food on olio for the first time which was quickly collected. I’ll definitely be using it again when we have surplus.

Christmas Day gifted me another leak in my roof, this time through the second velux window, so I’ll have to get the roofer back to sort it soon. That’s another £400 gone. I’ve also spotted a potential problem with the boiler and the radiator is still leaking so I need to find a plumber ASAP. I was kindly given some money for Christmas which I was hoping to save or finally buy myself a pair of boots that don’t have holes in, but that and then some will have to be spent on fixing the house unfortunately. :(

Hi @MeandO.  I was trying to catch up on your diary, but I'm afraid I've just ended up skipping ahead!  I was just thinking that dry feet are one of the important things in life.  Would it be worthwhile using some cash from the EF for boots?  If my feet are sore or cold it tends to make me a lot more unhappy in general.

Thank you Elisheba and Happy New Year to you. I’ve gone back to wearing some canvas pumps I have at the moment so they’ll do for now. I’ll perhaps feel better about buying boots once everything in the house is sorted and paid for (and perhaps boots will be on sale by then too if Spring is on the way!).

Happy New Year everyone, I hope 2024 brings good health and happiness for all. Xx

Today I’ve sent £8.15 to the mortgage to round it down to £68590. I’d like to get rid of the £90 too but think that may be a bit optimistic at the moment. £2.49 has been paid in from TCB and I’ve avoided the sales so haven’t spent anything much since Christmas.

OH and I had a lovely NYE celebrating with friends, first at a local pub and then at one of their houses. Meeting up with people always makes me feel so much better. Feeling cold and blue today, mainly because it’s horrendous outside and I’m back to work today. DS and I were supposed to be travelling to my parents today but have delayed 24 hours until tomorrow because of the weather. It would be foolish to drive in this unless absolutely necessary, plus I’m exhausted after not sleeping so well lately. Hopefully the weather is better tomorrow.

Not sure where you are @MeandO but when I went out at lunchtime the roads were awful, and workmen were out digging channels in verges to drain some of them into fields, so sounds like a good call on delaying your trip.
