Two items sold on vinted over the weekend so I've wrapped those ready for posting. I've accepted an offer on a third item, but that doesn't guarantee they'll actually go ahead and buy it so we'll see if that leads to anything.

I've finally booked a boiler service and radiator repair after putting it off for a month or so. It felt like getting round to doing it was a real huge task and actually trying to find someone reliable is a bit of a minefield. The last guy I had did the job well but I found him so very rude that I would never have him back in the house again. The minute I opened the door he complained because he wasn't able to park right outside and he was extremely arrogant. It put me off getting anyone back in tbh. Anyway, it's done now, so I'll need to take some cash out of the bank later to cover that.

I'm struggling today and think it's mainly down to tiredness as I didn't sleep well last night. I was hoping for a lovely day yesterday but it just turned out to be very frustrating and tense for a few different reasons and I wasn't in the best of moods. Then I had news that my Mum had been taken to hospital by ambulance again and I didn't hear anything until this morning, so I was awake on and off throughout the night worrying and thinking the worst.
I started back at SW group last week and have stuck to my diet 100% and felt great about it - until today when I caved for too much chocolate. I think it shows I'm definitely and emotional eater and tiredness doesn't help me either. I've drawn the line though and am just seeing it as a slip up and no need to give up. I know it's a waste, but I've thrown the rest of the chocolate in the bin. If I know it's there I'll just eat it. I'm going to try and be kind to myself tonight and eat well and get an early night if I can.

  • I hope you can get a good nights sleep tonight, and that mum is okay <3
I am also an emotional eater - having cut gluten out of my diet has made emotional eating a lot harder, as it appears almost everything I like to eat has wheat in it haha. You are absolutely right to not beat yourself up - sometimes we have bad days, but the key thing is to not make it a bad pattern.

Well done for the Vinted sales - and thanks for prompting me to list my stuff too.

    Thank you foxandflowers xx

Well done on going gluten free, that must be quite difficult. Hope it’s helping health-wise. I hope the renovations are going well too! Xx

My EF savings account rate was ending and nosediving imminently so I’ve opened a Cash ISA today at a fixed rate of 4.6% for a year and transferred the funds to that.

£200 has been withdrawn for the gas engineer tomorrow but I’m hoping it will be nowhere near that much and I’ll be able to put some of that cash back into the bank afterwards. I’m going to ask him about the cost of putting a bigger radiator in DS’s room too. It’s quite a large room but has the smallest of radiators behind the door. It’s the coldest room in the house.

I’m also getting more and more aware of the fact that I’m going to have to replace the windows in the older part of the house. Only 5 windows in total, but they’re huge as we have very high ceilings in the house, so it’s probably going to cost me a lot of money. I’ll make enquiries first and go from there.

    Thank you HSL2 xx

I've postponed the boiler service until Friday now as I've been stressing about them turning up when I have to pick DS up from school which I won't need to do on Friday, so the money will stay in my purse for a few extra days.

The other vinted sale did go through so that's another £20 made for DS as the item belonged to him. I think I'll put it in his junior ISA rather than his normal bank account as he has built up a lot of savings in the 'spending' account and doesn't really need it at the moment.

Not much else to report this morning other than I'm still feeling a bit stressed, tired and under the weather despite being in bed by 9.30pm last night. Hopefully I can shake it off this week.

I received the payment from HattonGardenMetals for the gold jewellery I sent off - just over £170 - which I was thrilled with. I deliberated on how to allocate the money but decided to send £100 to the savings and, by topping it up from another rarely used savings pot, overpaid the mortgage by another £100.

    New totals:

    Mortgage @ 03/2019: £107KNow: £68,300
    Mortgage OP's 2024: £298.15/£2000 Total OP’s: £8508.71

I've made myself some little motivational colour-in charts for both the mortgage and savings targets. Hopefully they'll help in being a visual reminder that I'm doing OK and will.encourage me to throw everything at them. I am leaning towards paying more into the savings for a while to boost that ad I seem to have been stuck in the £4k/£5k's for some time now and it's making me feel like there's not a lot of progress.

Hopefully they'll be less white squares and more coloured in ones very soon!

  • Oh I do like the squares! I think that it is important to focus on where you want to, if the EF will boost you in this journey, then it makes sense! Great use of the gold money!
