  • Just received a set of papers from the county court so they are going through with it, time to do lots of reading again, no doubt I will be begging for some more help.

"My other half has received a PCN from Excel parking issued 24/1/2023 for offence 17/1/2023, she was there taking a disabled person to shop in the attached premises."

Just checking  -  are all the court proceedings in the name of your other half (wife)?.
  • Yes they are, why?

    Yes they are, why?
Because sometimes the people actually posting on the forum believe they can defend the case on behalf of the person (registered keeper) who has received the parking charge.  It can sadly go wrong, with an ensuing mess.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

If you mean a court claim, what's the Date of issue?

    25th July.

With a Claim Issue Date of 25th July, you have until Monday 14th August to file an Acknowledgment of Service.  Do not file an Acknowledgment of Service before 29th July, but otherwise there is nothing to be gained by delaying it.
To file an Acknowledgment of Service, follow the guidance in the Dropbox file linked from the second post in the NEWBIES thread.

Having filed an Acknowledgment of Service in a timely manner, you have until 4pm on Tuesday 29th August 2023 to file your Defence.
That's over four weeks away. Plenty of time to produce a Defence, but please don't leave it to the last minute.
To create a Defence, and then file a Defence by email, look again at the second post on the NEWBIES thread - immediately following where you found the Acknowledgment of Service guidance.
Don't miss the deadline for filing an Acknowledgment of Service, nor that for filing a Defence.

Do not try and file a Defence via the MoneyClaimOnline website. Once an Acknowledgment of Service has been filed, the MCOL website should be treated as 'read only'.

It's a great summary of Excel's recent work.  Well done David Walsh, a journalist who is a familiar name because he has been put in contact with me recently.

Well written article, he's got a good grip on the issues. Pity he's not a journo on a national rag.
