  • You just cannot believe that any tradesman would walk away from a job like that & class it as 'job done'.
Shocking what some people & companies try & get away with.

We are still talking with them and they are looking at finding a solution. I just wanted to find out what we should reasonably expect and what solutions there might be. Thanks all. Fingers crossed we get it sorted.

Finding a solution, my my  it’s no wonder the building trade gets bad press when companies think a job like that is ok. I bet you paid up front, if not don’t pay.

They said they need to speak to the manufacturer. Yes, they are. Why do you ask?

You had a cowboy, these are normal practice on pitched roofs

    Cheap and easy to fit

Make and model of the boiler makes no difference.

When you look carefully at the first picture, it seems they squidged a large amount of sealant around the white flue, where it appears above the corrugated roof.

So, although it is a very bad job, it's not a complete disaster. Water probably won't get in until they do the job properly.

Also, surely the flue pipe should have a white collar fitted inside, to cover up that jagged gap around it. We have a collar fitted on our flue where it goes through the wall in our kitchen. Where the boiler is positioned, you can't even see the collar. I imagine a collar would have come with the flue kit.

I would be wondering about the boiler warranty. Any future claim might be refused if that I installation isn't done properly.

I was fitting those epdm flashings 20 plus years ago, For soil vent pipes on large commercial buildings. Very simple to fit.

The reason I asked about make/model of boiler as the company has informed the Op saying they have to contact the manufacturer to see what they recommended.( interesting to hear what they recommend).
Snug Energy company don’t appear to know how to deal with the issue?

There are growing number of companies out there who win/get the jobs and then just sub contract the work out to local installer for a fixed price. Get the materials delivered to the job then installer turns up and installs
Now if the lead/Ali slate doesn’t get delivered then it doesn’t get fitted. Then maybe he reports it to the main company or doesn’t, the fitter wants his money and the company won’t pay him for a 2nd visit , so maybe he doesn’t report it ?
Maybe the same if inhibitor or magnetic filter doesn’t get delivered who knows?
