Energy Bills - Price Hike.

I live in sheltered accommodation with Stonewater Housing Association. I now cannot afford to live here because of the cost of living price hike. My service charges have increased by £80.00 per week. These charges are not covered by housing payments. COL payments will only help me for a few months. My 1 bedroomed flat now costs £232. per week. I am sick with worry. Stonewater are just money grabbing - to afford this, I have to pay with my PIP. I am sick with worry. I love my flat, only been here since July 2022. Going to have to pay it. I have cancelled all Tesco deliveries  - luckily we have a trash cafe in the area for cheap food. I am disabled and rarely go out but will have to for cheap food. There are just 30 flats here and everyone is shocked by the increase. This is more price hike than we were all expecting. I just don't know what to do, am ringing my local housing dept for advice.

I particularly like their supporting you page which I was hoping to direct you to some of the ways they may be able to help you

If you don't mind what is the breakdown of the £232 a week and what was it before (£152?) What were the reasons given?

    following the link mstty posted.

have you seen the faq on the service charges and do you have a fixed or variable service charge (and would the other be cheaper if you swapped. and it looks like theres a payment plan so you could pay each week maybe not when the rent is due as well?) FAQs

have you phoned there income team to see about the support they could offer if you are struggling (they mention a payment plan but it looks like there might be grants and other help you might be able to get)?

Find out how we can help

It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?

Please consider buying some pet food and giving it to your local food bank collection or animal charity. Animals aren't to blame for the cost of living crisis.
  • Not sure how to reply to each reply.......income team have got my rent wrong twice in last 7 months....so they are useles......  ....i also have to pay an extra months money...which was £700, now its more..now its £1,000 to get my rent account into credit.. .did i ask for help, yea i asked, nasty people.
I haven't read anything anymore, my heads in a spin..I am sick with worry.......I am depressed....it would be lovely if Stonewater supported their residents.
will add the breakdown but can't see the link. I have always had a responsible attitude and always helped myself...can't do it anymore.....and I'm glad someone particulary likes a stone water page.....
how can i add a photo....?

    hoping this is it...
  • also, add to this my own electric bill, which is£50.00 - EDF want to raise it to £127.00...although I am on a fixed rate but they refuse to acknowledge this....and my useage is not high enough for the raise. I am successfully arguing with them, but theres that pressure now......so I pay 3x lots of energy bills, totalling £125.00 per week for a 1 bed flat, and if EDF put my bill up, i will pay just over £202. per week, just for gas and electricity Yes, I know, i live in a communal block but we all qualify on health grounds to live here. I am in receipt of UC and PIP.
  • that link leads to rubbish..its all pretend help. They have wanted my PIP off me since I have moved in, by hook or by crook, they got.

    is a load of rubbish.
