I love a homemade birthday cake over shop bought, well done ❤️👏
I'm sorry to hear the news of DH, my best friend and BIL both have had C in the last year. My friend helped herself by joining social media groups and chatting to people in exactly the same position as her (same cancer type). She put herself on a super strict diet to the point she lost all excess weight and actually looked very healthy before treatment. She's healing okay after radio and chemo- Better than some of the people on her group.
My BIL chose to stick his head in the sand and ate what he liked and that option worked well for him. He didn't speak to anyone about it really - aside from those of us who knew. Got on with treatment and seems to also be doing ok he's very weak still but we are just grateful he's still here after all he's been through...
I guess it depends on how your DH reacts with news like this and what his thoughts are. Sending much strength to you both at this time ❤️MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. Hello Saturday,Thank you for all the kind words
. This week its fair to say whilst OH is the one who is ill, he's been very typically calm and I have been typically myself and been an emotional wreck but I would say collectively we've had a bit of time to get our heads into the situation and should the docs say it is cancer it won't be the shocker it could have been. OH is doing ok, he's in a degree of discomfort but we hope once we know what is going on then we hope some treatment can start. We have a hospital appointment coming up and can only but take it from there.
This week we've had the good fortune of staying in my good friends 'posh house' as DS2 calls it. Its a gorgeous house that has treated us well. Our friends return home and we say goodbye to posh house today. To be honest, am ready to go home now. Its nice staying away on a sort of holiday but quite keen now to get back to our stuff now. The weather has at least been in our favour! The kids are now handed over to their dad and partner and its all excitment on their side. Their dad and partner are getting married next week abroad. So looking forward to hearing all about it. Poor DS2 has the job of carrying the rings and he takes after his poor mum nad has been a bit worried about the job. We've settled him as much as we can so lets see how it goes.Don't know if anyone saw on the news that train strikes are back for autumn. Sadly this will affect my route to the capital so feeling quite deflated on that front. If life isn't challenging enough at the moment to have this in the mix tooFinances wise now the kids are away we have the opportunity to cut down our spends. I will admit we did take opportunity this week to visit the big yellow shop and we bought some things for home. Where we live there is no big yellow close by. We shared the cost of the stuff. Luckily our freezer is pretty full and am sooo looking forward to being back on the fasting diet that I hope we can keep spending to a minimum till the end of this current credit card month. On the survey front, Prolfiic is as typical of this time of year very quiet but managed to cash out my £25 for reno & refurb acc. We now have £238 in there which is still pretty small but is slowly growing. I've been using Sprive for small amount of gift card / small food purchases such as meal deals on the train and for a small number of surveys. Its all small fry but planning to cash out on last day of the year onto my mortgage overpayment. Last night I signed up for some free shares from We Bull and still need to sort out the kids with prepayment bank cards. We have our mortgage with Natwest and so was going to sign up for Rooster for them. The football season starts properly this weekend so going to chuck myself into match betting too.Hope everyone is ok, now things are quieter, absolutely looking forward to catching up with diaries too2025 financial goals & challenges!

Hello Bank Holiday Monday!I'm going to be honest, I'd started writing an update on Saturday and I was really struggling from being in a bad headspace. It was one of those days where I just did not know what to do with myself. In all fairness, I had no one except OH to worry over as the kids are still with their dad so in some ways it was an ok day to be in that headspace. So after a poop Fri & Sat, I woke up on Sunday with a completely different frame of mind and both myself and OH had a really good day cleaning and sorting out the house. I think its been one of our best 'us' home days for a while! Today I have a carried on with a bit more sprit to tackle a bit more but I do need to tackle some computer based chores too.As shared last week, OH is under the Consultant at our local hospital, we met with the Consultant on Thurs. Poor OH has appointments, tests and stuff but no confirmed diagnosis as yet. We are just taking each moment as it comes as he can feel well and quickly feel ill. I'm having to learn a new set of skills as a carer and so far all kudos to anyone in any kind of caring position.Money wise, i've been quite worried if truth be told, we ran up our credit cards with all the travelling to the city since moving and I had a planned to get a second job but with this situ am not looking at it right now. OH has his sick note from the Consultant which is quite a big deal. We think OHs cc will come down naturally as he will be mostly at home when he starts treatment and hopefully mine will come down a bit too. I have some funds in savings to use so its not the worst it could be but its challenging nether the less.Ending on a more positive vibe, tomorrow is payday. Its all allocated for a more but one of my personal proud moments is being in the position make the next mortgage payment on our current home. We're on payment 7 and making an overpayment of £55.34! As they say every little helps! And in our current situ am appreciating each and every penny.!2025 financial goals & challenges!

I hope you get a diagnosis/results soon, there is nothing worse then being in perpetual limbo.
Hope you've had a good bank holiday, and well done for starting on the OPs straight off the cuff. I think it's probably the best way to do it!MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. Hello Sunny Friday!Am sat in the garden writing todays update with a cuppa! For little ol' me that is pretty perfect tbh! I have jobs to do but right now enjoying a bit of calm is great!Since last diary update earlier this week its been quite a good week of making use of offers & cashback. I don't know if anyone else made use of this but having caught sight of an advert where COOP were doing a £5 deal for 2 pizzas, 1 branded ice cream and a code for a free movie on one of the streaming services, I bought two of the offers and have bunged the 4 pizzas in the freezer and 2 pots of ice cream for us to enjoy as a family at half term. Hopefully there will be a suitable halloween movie we can enjoy! For most of my day to day spends I use a cashback credit card from Tesco's. The cashback has reduced somewhat from its heyday but its still worth it in my book. I save the clubcard points specifically for railcards of which I use the friends and family & two together. We do travel a lot by train so these do come in handy. Anyhow this week the two together railcard was expiring. Having not logged on for a long time to the cashback site and was pleasently surprised to see there was £23 of points to use of which I only needed £15 for the railcard this time. The cashback vouchers left had healthy dates 2026 dates on them! yay!I also recieved a long overdue £10 voucher for a cashback site I'd be waiting on so pleased with that and Prolific surveys have heated up again. I try to earn a doable £25 per month (to build up our reno & refurb pot) and we haven't even started Sept and am well on my way to that £25 with £18.05 sitting in the pot to cash out!Sprive is still quite a go slow but have had a small number of surveys this week from them, most seem to only get to 5p but still every penny counts and if I get to £30 at the end of the year I will be pleased.2025 financial goals & challenges!

Hello Tuesday,Wow, cannot believe we are in September already! The kids are back at school and last weekend was my first trip to visit them of the autumn term. We enjoyed a well overdue catch up, lots of hugs and it was one of the kids belated birthday party which was lush. Super turn out and lots of fun. The journey home was soo dull though as it was on a coach rather than train. It did save a few ££ though. This week is another busy week at work and at home. Tonight i've just come off a call with an advisor to sort out critical illness cover. My partners situation has pushed me into taking action, so although its a bit more than I wanted to spend. I've now at least got a policy sorted. I'd got an increased premium due to my BMI score.... this is a another kick up the a$$ to loose some weight which is no bad thing.Money wise, really needing a quiet 'dull' month as Oct will be busy with half term and the boys don't know it but we have a little trip planned as treat.2025 financial goals & challenges!
