  • Hello Sunday!

The sun has finally arrived to our little neck of the woods and must say am loving it!

This weekend is a bit more fabulous as my boys are here! Only for a couple of nights as they have to go back to their dads & school but yay! I feel so much more at peace. We tried to play a new board game last night but they were a bit too 'tiggerish!' so had to shelve that idea so instead they had a play in the garden. Not sure if i'd already posted about this but when we moved house most of the garden stuff ended up in the storage unit we rent in our original area because the removal vans were so full. So my garden here has turned into a meadow. This is nice for nature but not so helpful as we can't use it. This week we brought the strimmer back from the unit and have cut some but not all of the grass, so at least its a bit more usable than it was. Sadly the rest of the meadow will have to go but having loved having it, am thinking now how we can have a patch of meadow next year for bugs and beasties.

A few days ago the monthly interest on our mortgage was added and its currently sitting at just over £500, def want to see this go down! Finances wise we are looking yukky still. Need to figure out more income. Not sure yet. Hotels are looking v expensive for July. We might have to book and stay further out. Not yet decided.

  • Hello Tuesday,

Oooops! Thought i'd posted an update on the weekend but looks like I hadn't!

Last credit card month was horrific, lots of transactions and all just a bit eek. Going to spend a bit of time on the weekend coming up having a review and see if there was any places that were crazy overspends. On the outset it looks like it was just one of those bad months.

Last week was payday and bills day. Happy to report yet another mortgage payment down - we overpay by £55.34 and 5 payments in we are £276.70 in overpayments so far which is something!

This week am in the city all this week as there are some end of term school things going on so it was more beneficial to be here than up't north. Made a bit of an error by not checking the weather before coming down and basically have the most summery trainers with me that soak up water like a sponge so is not suitable for wet city week, really wish i'd brought my waterproof boots instead :(

Not much else is happening, joined Freejackpot this week and have 'won' a few pence here and there. Hoping to build up a little pot to put towards Christmas things for the kids.

Also re-activated my profile for a seat filler site and going to see if I may get to see a last minute show tomorrow evening just by myself.

Good luck with the show. I have managed to get Rush tickets through the todaytix app a few times, on the day tickets for around £20. Quite a few shows do them, some are certainly easier to get tickets for than others, but might be worth downloading it for any future visits. You need to be flexible and it's never guaranteed, but if you are in London anyway it's less of an issue than if you have to travel.

Morning @Drawingaline, sadly didn't make it to the theatre this time but absolutely food for thought for next time :)

  • Hello Sunday,

Its been a good week here in the hive, most of the past week was spent in the city. My time was taken in a mix of time with the kids, working remotely from our hotel room and also having the pleasure to enjoy my youngest son take part in a school wide end of term performance at a local theatre. My son is not theatrical at all although we think he'd be perfect on stage as he is so funny in his own way. The production was a mandatory performance that all kids had to play a part. He wasn't on the stage but was enthustiastically in the chorus. A well enjoyed show and a proud mummy moment. <3

This week has also been quite a good week MSE wise. We have swapped energy suppliers to Octopus. We'd been with our previous supplier for quite a long time in our last place but we quite fancied a change. I think they are all a much of a muchness but we will see how it goes.Swapped using a £50 referral code so hopefully us and the person we got the referral code from get the £50 fingers crossed :). I've also been very consistent with FreeJackpot, no significant wins but absolutely every penny counts. Had a pay out on Y-Live Surveys of £50 and signed up for Sprive with a £5 referral code. Already used it to buy a summer dress in the sale at Tesco & complete a couple of surveys.Hopefully this will be an extra way to make some small overpayments on to my mortgage! Every little helps!

Dare I mention the big glittery C word?! Well a bit of lady luck was on my side and someone locally was selling a perfect condition correct sized electric guitar & amp. This will do for the kids and can't believe I have my first gift. I've learned to buy when I see them :)

As I type its the GAME! Not a big football fan but I do wish them to WIN! Got myself organised and put a bet on using match betting. I must admit I find match betting confusing but perservering to make it work!

Well done on the locking the money on MB

I  learnt re MB by buying a year long subscription to a site where they show you all The  steps, how to do it,  - I still pay for it as they find all the offers - sports and casino as well as showing price boosts free bets etc
I have been MBing now 6 years next month and made over £28k in that time (tax free) so I don’t need to learn how anymore but these specialist sites let you know various offers so worth still paying for in my opinion and they read all the t&cs and let you maximise value

I have a referral code I can dm you where if you don’t make £250 to get your subscription back (can pay monthly or cheaper annually)
    DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff.    Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.
