As pointed out above, even if you never claim any benefits, they will eventually have it back out of your state pension.It is up to you to prove you have repaid the debt in full. Unfortunately DWP don't really care if you agree or not.

As I said previously write a "cease and desist" letter to the collection company telling them further letters of this nature you will be reporting as harassment.
This should at least get the collection company off your back

Thanks to all who offered advice, I've spoken to DWP and they agree there must be some sort of mistake, they can't seem to find out anything in the system but have said if it's still outstanding chances are it's still owed.They will be investigating further but they also seem baffled by it.2
