New Octopus tariff for solar and battery users - Octopus Flux

But a battery (for me) is absolutely an investment that must give a return. That's the reason for buying one (if i were to).
A solar only system will supply me with enough 'energy watching' fun.
I have a hobby that is expensive enough, I do not need another one.YNWA

The problem with Flux is that now every unit spent on cooking dinner and washing clothes is a unit that could have been exported at 24.8p/39.12p. All that lovely free electricity I used to have has been taken awayAlnat1 said:...there's a feel good factor when, in winter you can cook dinner for "free" and in summer the overnight house load is "free".

Having done a rough calculation on my import / export from last year, Flux looks to be about 20% cheaper than E7 and fixed outgoing Octopus for me. I am currently on Agile Outgoing, but don't have an accurate average of what my export rate would have been, so my calc for that is a little dubious, which is why I've not used it, although the numbers I do have suggest it is somewhere between outgoing fixed and Flux.
I also feel that Flux might have seasonal benefits, but I haven't got that far with my calcs yet.
I guess the big question for me is, will Octopus let me have Flux if I don't have a domestic battery, but an EV?4.3kW PV, 3.6kW inverter. Octopus Agile import, gas Tracker. Zoe. Ripple x 3. Cheshire0 -
I have just turned off my Solic.. exporting surplus rather than heating my water...Officer_Dibble said:

With it being 'new' and 'beta' it's probably just a blip in their implementation systems and they may well be inundated with Flux applications to sort through - they may make the changes to import and export by different teams etc.....Oscarmax said:Twice I have emailed Octopus my Outgoing Export is still showing fixed 15 pence ?
They'll either get round to changing their Flux application backend systems/processes to do it automatically or piecemeal as people flag it up - definitely 'twitter' can be your friend here

Switch to Flux import went smoothly but export took a phone call to sort. Friday for import and Monday for export. Seems that the smart meter needed some human intervention.

Dare I be the one to raise my head above the parapet and ask if anyone's IHD shows the changes in import rate as they happen?
I know in the past some IHDs would indicate when the E7 etc tariff changed during the day ..... maybe that sort of possible 'feature' may come in the future, it was just a thought I'd share

.... on reflection, maybe it's not as possible with Flux as it's actually three different rates as apposed to the standard two E7 type rates and periods(?)cm4ever said:Dare I be the one to raise my head above the parapet and ask if anyone's IHD shows the changes in import rate as they happen?
