A couple of advantages of Agile are the lower standing charge and the volatile rates (low good for battery charging, high good for exports) but for weeks it has been fairly stable. Thought I would have another look at Flux and then noticed the Agile rates for tonight are 0-1p/kWh. Fixed term for my Agile ends in May, so will definitely consider it then.

Export is tracking and paying though, so wouldn't worry too much.Where's the best place to see export tracking, app or website, can't see anything yet, and also no mention of an export tariff , just Flux Import. Perhaps I need to give it a few days to fully up date.I'm supposed to notify my FIT supplier that I'm being paid for export by Octopus, but how can I do that if I don't know when Octopus starts paying me.

@powerful_Rogue That last message is different on mine, and no exported electricity, it was only setup this morning, so I'll give it a few days, thanks.

If you have twitter, send them a message on there. They usually reply within a couple of hours. If you don't have twitter, it's worth setting up an account just to DM Octopus as seems the best and quickest way to get a reply from them!

So, with this tariff, does this now swing the argument about the virtues of getting a battery?
I had decided not to go for a battery as in trying to estimate when it would pay for itself it turned out to be when its warranty ran out (e.g. 10 years to break even the battery cost). I presume now this can be reduced.
Obviously the green argument for not having a battery remains.YNWA

I am also sure solar panels do not magically stop working after 25 years but people still speak of it as that sort of life when working out if a solar system is worth investing in.YNWA

Think of a battery as a new toy that more than likely will pay for itself over time.
It will give you a new hobby of "energy watching", checking costs and savings, reading up about various tariffs etc. It will definitely entertain you and there's a feel good factor when, in winter you can cook dinner for "free" and in summer the overnight house load is "free".
Try to stop thinking of a battery as an investment that must give a return and think of it as something that will make you happier. Go on, treat yourself, you know you want to. It's only like buying a very expensive posh coffee machineBarnsley, South Yorkshire
