New Octopus tariff for solar and battery users - Octopus Flux

This tariff is designed to allow us to discharge our batteries at peak times to help the grid. Do people not worry that forced discharge will increase the number of cycles that you put the battery through in a shorter time frame which will shorten their life? With replacement costs as high as they are surely we should try to look after them.. or is the potential income worth the extra cycles?3.995kWP SSW facing. Commissioned 7 July 2011. 24 degree pitch (£3.36 /W).
17 Yingli 235 panels
Sunnyboy 4000TL inverter

Solar Immersion installed May 2013, after two Solar Immersion lasting just over the guarantee period replaced with Solic 200... no problems since.
13 Feb 2020 LUX AC 3600 and 3 X Pylon Tech 3.5 kW batteries added...

What you do with your battery storage system is completely up to you....
Just because the tariff offers an incentive to earn more (a higher export rate) exporting between 4pm-7pm, it doesn't mean you have to force it. In the summer, I'd still potentially be exporting normally at this time anyway, on sunny days.... we were still exporting yesterday after 4pm (since just before noon) and it's only March! (it wasn't at a high level, but the principal is there - total export yesterday was 5.1kWh)
The ability to charge battery storage (if desired) at a 'cheaper' night rate and predominantly have use of the 'standard' rate for the rest of the time if needed (excluding the 3hr peak window), with generally increased export unit price (compared to Outgoing Octopus 12M Fixed 15p/kWh) is enough benefit for me

I've just changed to Flux, had an email to confirm Flux import is live, but how long will it take for Flux export to be live?
I already have a generation MPAN, so that doesn't need setting up
As for cycle life, my battery should have a 3000 to 6000 cycle life, at one cycle a day that's 8 to 16 years, manufacturer states in excess of 6000 cycles.

JKenH said:Flux certainly looks appealing if you have both solar and batteries. If you have solar panels and an EV you are going to have to do a lot of sums.
I'm currently on E7 and Agile outgoing because Go and the lower SEG didn't work for me. So I've already got high SC.
I am going to have to do some serious number crunching to work out whether the improved day export makes enough of a difference.4.3kW PV, 3.6kW inverter. Octopus Agile import, gas Tracker. Zoe. Ripple x 3. Cheshire0 -
I replied to their "is everything OK?" email pointing out that my Export tariff hadn't changed after my Import one did. They didn't reply to the email, but the Export tariff changed a couple of hours later. Whether it was the email or coincidence I don't know.
As for cycling, the battery's either going to gradually run down towards minimum through use up to 0200 the next morning, or slightly faster by discharging between 1600-1900, I can't imagine it'll make much difference.4.7kWp (12 * Hyundai S395VG) facing more or less S + 3.6kW Growatt inverter + 6.5kWh Growatt battery. I've decide to wait until the clocks change to hop over to Flux, so more of my export will be during the evening peak.
Hopefully in a couple of weeks the sun will be making a bit more of an effort. It's been a rather dull, grey winter here, near to the Pennines.Barnsley, South Yorkshire

I've just looked on my account and it shows this:So hopefully export will be setup soon, but would be good to know how long it will take.I was on the flexible tariff, as have only just had my smart replaced after they stopped working last year, so made sense to switch now.
