New Octopus tariff for solar and battery users - Octopus Flux

I believe you can keep your FIT deemed export, or you can switch your export as well, and loose the deemed export, you still get the generation FIT payments either way, you can also choose to keep these with your current FIT provider or switch them to Octopus.
I switched my export, as financially it made sense, I installed adittional solar and batteries, even if I hadn't it still would have been viable as we exported quite a lot.0 -
I can't remember whether Octopus only accepted customers with Smart meters on Flux 13 months ago, however the tariff is designed for metered export customers, not deemed. Also, if you have a Smart meter you'll eventually get notified that you're being moved off deemed anyway. Over my first year on Flux I was paid £655 more for export compared to deemed. A huge factor in my annual energy bill amounting to just £54!sln8458 said:Forgive my ignorance here
We have solar pv (3.9Kw) and are still on the same tarriff we were switched to when our last fixed rate deel ended during Covid. (Flexible Tarriff)? So when switching to say the Octopus Flux tarriff, do you lose your FIT deemed export??2 -
Looks like I should investigate this further.Possibly add more panels + battery.

@sln8458 The more panels the better, and a big battery certainly helps, hopefully they'll run saving sessions again this winter. I'm in the process of fitting an additional 15 panels.
With my generation Fits, exports, saving sessions and one referral, my gas and electric last year was minus £400, and I 9nly moved to flux in April. Doubt this year will be as good though, lower export prices, and the weathers been poor.0 -
The most additional panels I could fit is 10/12 as it will be on a flat roof. But using the 500w JA panels this would be an extra 5Kw.Ron-ski said:@sln8458 The more panels the better, and a big battery certainly helps, hopefully they'll run saving sessions again this winter. Recommend Sharp 585W bifacial panels for a flat roof - I'm seeing 8-10% bifacials gains per panel using a Van Der Vaulk mount and two coats of white reflective paint on the roof.sln8458 said:The most additional panels I could fit is 10/12 as it will be on a flat roof. ...within the export limit imposed by your current inverter / the local DNO....Ron-ski said:@sln8458 The more panels the better, and a big battery certainly helps, hopefully they'll run saving sessions again this winter. I'm in the process of fitting an additional 15 panels.

@pensionpawn A good point, in my case I have 11.68kW export limit, adding more panels makes no difference for me as I'm not adding another inverter, they will be hung off my 8kW Victron Quattro.
For others they may need to consider export limits, applying for more or using a G100 certified system to limit export.0
