Can't wait for Flux export. 17.9 (£4.78) export today of which 5.6 was during the peak rate as we cooked our main meal around 1pm. So just 4.6 import today, none during the peak period. An almost ideal scenario I admit, however that's a net positive of £3.88 before s/c and a small deduction due to increased gas. Considerably more than the deemed export rate and with around £4 of generation FiT the days energy cost would have been around +£6  :)

The arrival of Flux has changed the way I use my batteries.  I now charge up to 90% during the off peak period (ATM about 2.5 kWh added nightly) then my solar runs throughout the day topping the battery to 100% and exporting any excess for about the same price as I paid to charge.  Rough guess is I need to export 3 kWh more than I import to totally cover my electricity bill including standing charge.  I am awaiting my first bill since swapping to this tariff but expect to be in credit

We started the switch to Flux this week, important was switched immediately, export will take a few weeks at least because we're moving over from a different provider, and are currently deemed FIT export rather than a metered export.

We've already changed our usage pattern though, and I have to say I'm quite enjoying it. In lieu of a battery, we have to try and use more electricity during the Flux hours, and less during peak time. So now we tend to have a snack as soon as we're both home from work (I'm German, and this reminds me of 'Kaffee & Kuchen' growing up, which we did every day when my parents came home), then go for a little walk, come back to do some meal prep and only stick the oven / hob on at 7. We used to have dinner quite early, but this pattern might actually work better for us during the summer months.

I can't wait for the export to switch over too, even just to be able to properly monitor our export stats. We only moved into a house with solar panels in December, so it's all still quite new and exciting all round.

Well today is 6 months since my export tariff began, and I was able to download all eight thousand six hundred-ish half hourly readings for both import and export from the Octopus website, and then wrestle with Excel for a while bashing it into something legible.

Despite not having a battery, or taking any particular steps to reduce usage in the 16:00-1900 period, (besides saving session days) I've calculated that if flux had existed and we'd had it for the last six months we'd be about £8 better off.

Not amazing, but critically, not any worse either. Breaking it down into individual months, November and December (which according to our PV-GIS were bad even for winter) would have been about £3.50 more expensive each, whereas our April bill would have been £14 cheaper.

So I signed up for Flux last night. I figure we can make behavioural changes to reduce import during the peak - cooking probably won't go anywhere but we can avoid using the other white goods. Come winter we can make use of the 2-5 cheap rate too.
Assuming we're still on it in winter. Right now I've compared Flux to the EPG, but depending on how the SVT cap changes in July and October who knows.
3.6 kW PV in the Midlands - 9x Sharp 400W black panels - 6x facing SE and 3x facing SW, Solaredge Optimisers and Inverter. 400W Derril Water (one day). Octopus Flux

If I was only looking at being £8 up from November - April inc I'd be over the moon as I know I'll be significantly up from May - October inc! However all these calculations are very individual...

That's a good export figure, what size system do you have?

I've had the email through inviting me to accept the t&c's for Flux Import.
Obviously the import part of the tariff is the bitter pill I'm willing to swallow in order to secure the Flux export rates, so I hope it won't take long for export to follow.
