NS&I asked everyone to set up a PIN when they moved to 2FA. This is the first case I've heard of anyone being asked for it though.P1Fanatic said:
Unfortunately I wanted to buy more Premium Bonds which isn't an option on their app. That said I just tried using the app for the first time in several months and its asking me to enter a pin which I don't ever remember using or setting up before (and I store everything in a password safe). Tried my usual ones and locked myself out now.km1500 said:This problem has been around for at least 2-3 years. I myself made a formal complaint about it 18 months ago - got told to clear cookies and got £75 compo. Nothing changed.
One work-around is to use their app.0 -
Guess I just didnt make a note of it back then and used FaceID so never had to use it. Tbf I did just call them and after the usual fight with the automated menu voice, once I got through to an agent it was sorted in less than 2 mins. Setting a PIN using their jumbled keypad is tricky though but a good idea for stopping people watching keypad presses over shoulders.Swipe said:

I keep getting stuck when it sends the OTP it never arrives. Tried different browsers, both windows 10 and android phone and tablet. Phoned up ns and i was passed around like a parcel. They readded my mobile phone but it didn't work. Ended up speaking to about 6 or 7 operators. All asking for a different 2 bits of my password. Then asked several of my security questions. I dont even remember setting them. They could get together at tea break and work out most if not all of my password. Couldn't get the 2 bits of personal info right. I started feeling like I was on a scam call. Then they asked me what bank account I opened on date X? At that point I was so fed up and suspicious I told the operator it was none of their business and I wanted to close my account. Passed to the next operator who are sending me a new password through the post. But if the OTP won't send again I am back to square one! Still worrying I was passed to a scammer somehow until I get the temp password in the post.2

Rather than getting a OTP, can’t you request a voice code to your landline instead
that’s what I used to do before I (finally) got a mobile phone !1 -
Thanks I have a landline number but not a handset but good to know in case needed in the future.ranciduk said:Rather than getting a OTP, can’t you request a voice code to your landline instead

I did however just now have the brainwave to check my phones blacklist and found nsi and all of the lost OTP messages in there! I don't know how it got there! I swear my phone must have blacklisted it automatically! Even my mobile phone sees messages from ns and i as red flags!
So if anyone else has this issue with the OTP not arriving then check your mobile blacklist.
My account is still suspended however so waiting on the temporary password. Just been reading all the negative trustpilot reviews which make the organisation sound like scammers who steal your money.0 -
Wow, I've just looked at the Trustpilot reviews. What is going on there? I'm just glad I can still log in.1

Me either, but the problem is, when you do you are pretty much shafted due to horrendous customer service. I've had these clowns have me jump through endless hoops that all failed trying to sort out my change of address and my late mother's account.ranciduk said:I have never had a single problem logging in
