Automatic: The postcode must be off the gas grid and the majority of the addresses in your postcode must not be using mains electricity for their central heating.
Manual: In other cases there will be an application process via an online portal to be made available at the end of the month.
So you clearly qualify, check with your neighbours to find out if any have received an automatic payment/credit, if so suppliers have until the end of the month to meet their requirements as directed by the Dept of Energy, and are likely very busy at this moment.

So, it is probably unfair to criticise EDF as you have. (there are plenty of other areas where valid criticism can be made!)
I have had to chase EDF & have a 40 minute discussion with them.
They would not automatically release my AFP & wanted to keep it.
Have raised a formal complaint.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.1 -
We are on an Economy Seven tariff, but no gas supply, are we entitled to the AFP?0

Ovo have paid this to us on the basis that there is no mains gas in the village. However, we upgraded from oil to ASHP over a year ago. Will Ovo be asking for this cash back at some time?0

Electricity including E7 is excluded (along with mains gas). But it depends on your postcode and what the Census has down as the predominant form of heating in the area. If the majority of others in your postcode use one of the alternative fuels you will get it automatically. If it's electricity or mains gas as the main heating fuel in your postcode, you can't claim.DavePom said:Ovo have paid this to us on the basis that there is no mains gas in the village. You are one of the lucky ones who use electric for their main heating, but in a postcode area predominantly using the qualifying alternative fuels.

Although I am entitled to the AFP, as I do not have a gas supply and rely on oil for heating,
to date I have not received it . I have contacted my electricity supplier OVO who confirm they have made all the payments under the AFP for the customers that were on the list supplied by the government and suggest I claim direct on the governments website.0 -

Although you do not receive mains gas the qualification criteria for automatic payment are related to your post code. If your postcode is off the mains gas grid and the majority of addresses do not use mains electricity for their heating requirements then your postcode is eligible for all addresses to receive the AFP.
I'm not aware of a complaints process, but all suppliers are required (By Dept of Energy) to pay the AFP to eligible customers by 28th Feb at the latest and if not why not.
When the portal is open, anyday now, you will be able to claim anyway.

Another pertinent point is that if you've switched on or after the 1st Feb and are automatically eligible, then your previous supplier is responsible for paying it.
[People who've switched away before getting the payment are one type of exception case and can be paid after the 28th Feb.]0
