Are YOU boring?

Aw, now I feel bad for your friend, even if she is being completely rubbish. Just tell her she's rubbish, give her the present anyway, and perhaps you can still be friends?
Well I would have, I asked her about another day to meet up but she says she's busy going out and spending money. No I won't be bitter, I'll be the one laughing when she gets herself into debt a second time as she hasn't learned her lesson.

Boring? Absolutely! I wish I didn't have to think about money, but I do and I'm bored with it, but at least I know I'm getting myself out of a hole, I'm giving myself so many more opporutnities in life, and soon the panic attacks, stress and worry everytime the phone rings will be a thing of the past.
I suppose once you've been in debt, you never want to be there again. Those who have never been in debt, don't know what it feels like or that it is all consuming. Someday they will though, and that's when they'll know what it's like to have such a 'boring' friend who'll be willing to listen and understand.Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!0 -
I'm not - cos I haven't really told anyone the actual state of my finances (or lack of them). Although I use discount codes, cashback sites and never pay full prce for things until I'm absolutely sure I can't get it cheaper elsewhere, I don't scrimp and save like a lot of you do (I wish I could, I just have no willpower :-( )
Unixgirl - I feel for you, that must hurt. I had a friend like that and for yersI was at her beck and call when she needed someone or something whilst se was nowhere to be seen when I needed a friend. It hurts, but it's worth the hurt to get rid of those people. These days only people who give as much as they take can call themselves my friends. Good luck hun xx

It shouldnt be seen as boring! I cant believe what i have been reading about your apparent friend unixgirluk drop her like a cheap jacket potato from the market. 'im to busy spending money' lucky her she has no tact and no thought for you what so ever. I hope she spends all her money and comes to you needing help balancing books again you can then turn round and say the same to her as you have been the smart one sorting your debt out rather than pushing it to one side.
Wifey and i have been struggling for a little while now mainly due to my willy nilly spending and she never complains. She is really good ad manages to shop on the smallest amount of money for the 4 of us and always makes sure we all have what we need so i have promised myself to get us out of the 'oh my god what is the postman bringing today' scenario by next xmas.
a big :T to all those who have paid off student loans etc as i know how tough it is being in a situation you dont think will ever end.
Merry xmas to all MSE's not boring just making a better life for ourselves:DTarget for 12 months TV - Console - Holiday (not necessarily in that order:rolleyes: )

yep I am officially booooooooorrrrrrrING!!!! said it earlier but I think I have just confirmed it. but as others have said rather be boring and getting out of debt than being exciting and getting in further into it.
Plenty of time to be exciting guilt free in a few years time!!
I think the people that dismiss it or don't want to talk about their finances are the people that we should be concerned about as they aren't comfortable with their situation, some people like to keep their cards close to their chest I agree but people that label you boring are either perfect (highly doubtful), have more money than they can spend in a month (quite improbable) or still live off credit cards and aren't comfortable in talking about it so put you down instead (more than likely)
Anyway, waffling now, any excuse not to work hey!!:Ddebt @05/11/11 £12210.63!! slowly chipping away!!:heart2:impossible is nothing.:heart2:0 -
I've never once been told I'm boring - or been aware of that being said about me (lots of other stuff maybe ...but never boring;) ).
I bore myself a bit worrying about money - but I've now got free of mortgage and debt ... so I find myself a bit more interesting these days! lol
Still boring myself a bit re money ...... but, for a good cause, as in F.U. Money as I believe its called - the *U* concerned being employers. I just want the freedom to "walk" - as far away from them as possible. Getting there..... I had several sideline jobs on top of the "day job" in order to help get my finances sorted. I dropped one of them the other day when I wasnt too happy about something they said and I've just resigned from another one of them for same reason. The other one - well, thats pretty okay - but I'd like my time back for myself, so when I've finished what I currently agreed to do for them, I wont be going back for any more. So - getting there, dropping off employers one by one...and now for the most difficult - aka "the day job" when I can. I wont be bored then - as I'll be doing precisely what I want when I want all day, every day -- that doesnt sound boring to me!:D
Party....... :j0 -
Me - big bore like the rest of you. This includes my mate - who today bought a leapad system inc 5 books from a charity shop for £30 and the thoughts going through her head as she was paying was wait until I tell EM

Me, I love the fact christmas has virtually cost nothing this year. I opened a packet that came the other day and it had a rattle from Fisher Price in it - huddy's words "got that off MSE then?" - it's for our new baby. I love stoozing credit cards and getting cash back off quidco for just shopping.
Freecycle is one of the greatest groups to be formed on Yahoo :T ok I know there are a few people who abuse the ethos of freecycle, but the stuff I have received, given away and the lovely people I have met, far out weight the idiots.
I really wish this site (and the whole money saving idea) was round when I was a student (about 20 years ago  ). I wasn't bad - I've always been a bit thrifty but I still had an overdraft to pay back and the odd credit card or 2!
Don't you listen to your mates - you will be laughing when you get your degree with the minimum of debt and will have less to pay back at the end.
You keep going and keep it up  .
Merry Christmas
