I topped up my Christmas card today at asda it then asked me if I wanted cashback at a self service till? First will this cash qualify and Does the cash come out of the machine?

I have never been offered cashback at a self service till. Check you statement to see how they list it.
I've often been offered cashback at an Asda self-service till, when using a debit card.
Strangely, I wasn't when I topped up my Christmas card last month, or perhaps I missed it.

ETA: Realised I was using a card only till, so no facility to dispense cash.

Morrisons self-service tills used to offer this feature as well, but they recently updated their software and the "card with cashback" payment option has now disappeared.

Excellent! Just checked and mine is there too. Last month mine was paid several days later than the first reported payment.

Edit: On further examination I see that this was a purchase on my wife's card on our joint account on 21st March.

The cashback on my payment via Google Pay on 7th March has not been paid yet. I am happy that it will be as my February Google Pay purchase has had its cashback paid.

If you are struggling to reach your £200 limit for April remember you can buy gift cards at some supermarkets and use them during the next month. I have two flex accounts and NW have paid cashback on both ie. two separate £200 limits. Buying gift cards is a useful way of maximising your cashback.
