Have people received the cashback for purchasing gift cards at the supermarkets?

I bought a tesco gift card on 28 February (settled 1 March), cashback Feb received today.
Did you buy it on line?  I bought an ASDA Christmas Gift Card in store with other items and wish to top up. Can I top up on line and qualify for the NWide 5% or is is better to do it instore with other shopping?

    Thanks

DO NOT TOP UP any Gift Card  online.
I tried to do this and my card was blocked. They see this as a suspicious transaction. Do it in store with other shopping.

Also, quite often the gift card/payment processor for  gift cards bought online can be from a third party (eg Voucherexpress, cashstar) and so the debit won't show as that of the supermarket, and you won't get the 5% back
I topped up my ASDA Christmas Saver at a self service till with my shopping and got the cashback ok. I take your point though.
I topped up my Christmas card today at asda it then asked me if I wanted cashback at a self service till? First will this cash qualify and Does the cash come out of the machine?

I have never been offered cashback at a self service till. Check you statement to see how they list it.

I did not take the cash offer but just wondered.

I've often been offered cashback at an Asda self-service till, when using a debit card.
Strangely, I wasn't when I topped up my Christmas card last month, or perhaps I missed it.

ETA: Realised I was using a card only till, so no facility to dispense cash.

Morrisons self-service tills used to offer this feature as well, but they recently updated their software and the "card with cashback" payment option has now disappeared.

Excellent! Just checked and mine is there too. Last month mine was paid several days later than the first reported payment.

Edit: On further examination I see that this was a purchase on my wife's card on our joint account on 21st March.

The cashback on my payment via Google Pay on 7th March has not been paid yet. I am happy that it will be as my February Google Pay purchase has had its cashback paid.
