Nationwide 5% cashback on supermarket spending

Not all cardholders will use their card in a supermarket, and some won't receive the full amount. So I think the liklihood of the cash having run out already is minimal.
Also, if they didn't have enough to pay all the March cashback, I think people would receive partial payments, rather than some receiving the full £10 and others receiving nothing.
Patience is required!1 -
Would the gift card have to be purchased direct from the supermarket to get the cashback?1

Why is it only supermarket spend anyway?
Why an ethical bank/building society doesn't do something similar to Amex and their shop small? Supporting small shops instead of big supermarkets? What Nationwide did is incentivise people to shop only at the biggest chains.

I listen all night for your step on the stair.0 -
