Ah ha. All the Tescos I use/ have used have their own petrol stations.flaneurs_lobster said:
Some Esso fuel stations have Tesco Express outlets attached, fuel and store purchases attract Clubcard points. I think the gift card exclusion applies to these outlets.Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Katiehound said:Already suggested: buy some gift cards in the supermarket to increase your spend this month., then spend them when the offer has finished, or for example buy Tesco gift card and go buy their fuel with it (but needs to be a manned petrol station I think.) I also think you have to wait up to 48 hours for the card to be activeOops, it turns out that not all supermarket gift card programs are created equal. Whereas Tesco may allow gift cards to be spent on fuel, the same doesn't appear to be true for Sainsbury's. Petrol and Diesel listed as excluded products hereA bit annoying since the lady at the checkout specifically confirmed they could be spent on fuel when I asked but I guess she was mistaken

The deal has been operational now for 13 days and as yet nobody knows if they have earned any money. Do we all really have to wait until 6 weeks after 28th February to find out?
I am hoping that there is some sort of notification well in advance of the cashback appearing on your statement. I am confident of the larger supermarkets but no so sure about the smaller ones I use.
If there is notification, this is the place to find out.4 -
It makes sense for that, but it's weird they say "for fuel, except esso fuel" instead of "except at an esso filling station with a tesco express".flaneurs_lobster said:

I expect to be met with "Surprise we sell esso fuel here at this supermarket filling station, so no gift card purchases for you...."

Yes it is weird, but then again they also said that "Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda" are only "likely" to be included in the offer.phillw said:

Like most cashback offers, best to assume you're getting nowt but if you do, Happy Days! It is, after all, only a tenner.0 -
I will be combining the Nationwide 5% cashback with a £5 off £25 (does not include alcohol) spend at Lidl 22/2 to 28/2 by using their app, tapping "more" on the bottom right, open redeem code, enter FEELGOOD, activate coupon and you will find it on your coupon list.

The "except esso fuel" is about use of the Tesco gift card, not about the 5% Nationwide offer. As you know, all petrol station spend is excluded from the latter.flaneurs_lobster said:

If a supermarket branch is excluded from the Nationwide offer but you use your card, then you may be missing out on 1% through other card offers.1 -
Do you think Wilko (pet food), B&M (food) and Home Bargains (food) would be included? otherwise I'm losing! I would otherwise be using my Chase card.0

I'd be very surprised indeed if Wilko were included.dealyboy said:Do you think Wilko (pet food), B&M (food) and Home Bargains (food) would be included? otherwise I'm losing! I would otherwise be using my Chase card.
I'd be almost as surprised if B&M or Home Bargains would be coded as supermarkets but others with experience of, say, using a NatWest reward credit card in those places could hazard a better guess.
Personally I prefer the certainty of 1% if there is doubt about the 5%.

Wilko is not a supermarket0
