Fairly low spend weekend. Not anything too excessive to report. Emergency fund has made it to 100.

  • Emergency fund still 100. Debts still higher than last month and only spent on petrol today as I was driving on fumes. Payday on Friday thank goodness.
Applied for a job last night and have another potential I'm interested in. I'm also hoping pay talks tomorrow amount to something. I work for that massive health care company which intended to strike at the end of this week. I'm not in a union so am not involved in any strike action but would welcome any payrise with wide open arms  if it's offered.

Good luck with the job applications.  Hope there is some good news on the pay award.

Thankyou. I'm in a funny predicament of should I work full time for maybe 150 pounds a month more once I've paid for extra childcare or stay as I am but have nothing spare,
I work term time at moment which across the year then averages out to be paid for 25 hrs a week.  it's full on hrs wise during term time but then there is very little childcare in holidays as I work very little in school hol. (approx 2 weeks worth out of the 13 they have off). My heart says this is best for family. Cost of living says absolutely No chance. There's a staffing review going on at work as well so that might make the decision for me. Who knows

  • Doesn't help that my tax free childcare still isn't working so I'm paying full whack. Must ring them again to chase.

  • Payday tomorrow thank goodness.
Need to check my shopping spend but I know it was over. Will log a few more weeks and get an idea of what it realistically needs to be.
Need to find the time and the energy to do a full spending diary and be very accountable this month. Debts going up is not the way it's meant to be. Need to get living within our means and then chip away at them again.

Happy payday!  Hopefully energy bills will start to come down later this year and things may ease off a little.  I'm sure all the food prices will stay the same though!

  • Any feedback on whether the figures seem reasonable, high low, too tight, etc is welcome. Dh gives money to house and keeps some to cover own petrol etc. Figures are the income that is there to cover everything listed. Food works out at 140 a week. Spends 20 a week. These aren't the figures we work to now but could be if I stay in current job, and childcare reduces once  oldest moves to highschool. Tax and water I just added a tenner a month on from what we pay now. Gas and electricity was also a guess once the govt support scheme ends.
Potentially childcare could be more if local authority staff get pay rises and wraparound care goes up
