That’s odd - I’ve checked Experian and TransUnion recently and deffo no hard Monzo check for me, but there are 2 soft checks - AF & Quotation SearchWLewer98 said:Just checked my credit report and Monzo did a hard search on me last month. I know for a fact that I didn't apply for an overdraft, so maybe a hard search is the norm for them
EDIT: OP - please add Co-op (Cashminder) to soft search. I think other bog-standard basic accounts may also just have a soft search only due to their nature, and would still work for switching. https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/banking/basic-bank-accounts/0 -

Added but not sure on the switching bit as it's technically not a current account. Worth it's own discussion.PloughmansLunch said:

Did you apply online or you goto the branch, over the phone ? I could not see any tabs, to apply online using existing detail that I already have.ccdorset said:
So I've applied for and opened a Metro Bank current account.ccdorset said:Looks like it's not clear whether Metro Bank do a hard or soft search.
I'm going to apply today, so will report back on whether they hard search me. Realise it may take a while to show.
No alerts of hard searches yet, will keep an eye on my credit reports across Experian, Equifax and TransUnion over the next few weeks.0 -

On their home page, click on Bank Accounts, then Current Accounts and then there is an Apply today button.

Please could you confirm if Metro Bank did a hard or soft search on you? Thanks

Kroo does a soft search when opening an account and a hard search with Transunion when accepting an overdraft invite.1

Cater Allen only do a soft search (most likely because they don't offer overdraft facilities).0

Some even do a hard search, regardless if overdraft is requested or not.trient said:Cater Allen only do a soft search (most likely because they don't offer overdraft facilities).0
