RM Tracked 48 with signature (100 comp) cheaper than 2nd class recorded (50 comp) What am I missing?

Sending a small parcel through the Royal Mail click and drop service - I noticed that in amongst the myriad of options the same parcel cost:

Royal Mail 2nd class recorded - £50 compensation - signed for - £3.95:

Royal Mail Tracked 48 - £100 compensation - signed for £3.21

Am I missing something obvious with the RM tracked being cheaper with higher compensation?

You aren’t missing a thing! I use RM tracked 48 for small parcels , compensation up to £100 and pay £2.85 .

I believe Tracked is currently on promotion as well with reduced pricing.
Due to expire tomorrow but it has had several expiry dates come and go subsequently being extended.

I'm hoping it continues as the service has been very useful

Royal Mail have been doing several promotions on the Tracked services recently. I think they are trying harder to compete with Evri (Hermes).

I have been using this since I  found out about the price differences since December.  And using the collection services as they bring a nice sticky label as well.  First time they have let me down - yesterday they were supposed to collect a parcel and did not come so I rebooked it for today.  So far they haven't come today as well and it is nearly 5pm!

I printed some parcel labels off earlier using RM48 but just gone to do some more and ebay is showing this message 'Royal Mail Tracked 24 and Tracked 48 services will have new rates from midnight on 1 Feb. There may be some system instability at that time resulting in label purchase failures. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.'

EDIT - Royal Mail click and drop is working OK, so I have printed RM48 from there at my usual £2.85.

I’m trying to send RM Tracked via EBay and it’s showing as £8 
no other options 😫

That’s what I was seeing, £8 for a 70g large letter!

RM click and drop is running normally though and I’ve printed off my last few parcels at £2.85 Rm tracked 48.
