I don't have a problem but this story and photo may be of interest in the ongoing saga of Evri missing parcels and deliveries.

I have just received a delivery of a Blu Ray disk bought on eBay and despatched via Evri. The delivery lady did not ring the bell or knock but I did hear the letterbox open so I opened the front door and thanked her as she was walking back to her van.

Shortly afterwards I received an Evri delivery confirmation email with the below photograph. You can just see a tiny bit of the jiffy bag sticking out of my letterbox but otherwise it confirms nothing. It would require a visit to my front door to prove that is my letterbox and could be anything sticking out of my letterbox.

There is a background to this purchase but I will start another thread for that.

A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".

  • I don't know whether the Evri delivery drivers are all just plain crazy or whether they are just so inundated with deliveries that they just don't care. Every Evri delivery driver I've had is always in such a rush!

Evri don't use photos at my house. They just send me an email immediately after delivery. And I don't mind that they don't knock because I'm not always ready to jump up and rush to the door. We have two regular couriers and I know them and they are really very good - husband and wife team. They work different shifts and they are really good. I also live on a small road with only 14 properties and know all the neighbours and trust them all too. Lived here 16 years and no parcels have ever gone missing. I don't expect them to.

I support Evri. I know I'm going against the tide here but they have always given us - and my neighbours too - a brilliant service.

  • We have a great Evri lady too, she never leaves anything on the doorstep she always leaves with neighbours - which is often me as I'm the one most likely to be home!

To be fair to Hermes/Evri we have never had problems in the past. Perhaps we are fortunate but until recently I don't think we have ever had a delivery go missing.

I did post another thread a few days ago about this particular delivery but that all ended up ok as the item eventually arrived.

A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”

  • I received a message from Evri yesterday to say to expect a delivery. Couple of hours later got a ping to say parcel had been delivered. Looked out of window couldn't see anyone, opened front door, no parcel - and wasn't expecting anything. Went back online to check details and there is a photo of a parcel(s) saying it was delivered but clearly it isn't my doorstep - wrong colour door for starters. This morning went outside and found a parcel (something that was cancelled with the shop for non delivery 5 weeks ago). I'm still scratching my head as undoubtedly it is the parcel as shown in the photograph!  I can only think a neighbour dropped it off having been delivered to them by mistake without saying anything. There, I've answered my own question!

That's nothing. I got a picture of a random strangers patio table from Royal Mail. They then confessed this was actually over 2 miles away from my house...

At the risk of sounding like one of the Four Yorkshiremen, a family member has had - on multiple occasions - parcels delivered by Royal Mail to an address 9 miles away.  They didn't get pictures of anything more exciting than a wrong-coloured door though

Please dont blame the Evri couriers for the issue of photographs of items sticking out of letterboxes....

If the courier selects "letterbox" as the delivery point on the Evri Delivery App - then the explicit instructions from Evri are to photograph the item halfway thru the letterbox, then obviously push it all the way through.

So no need for anyone to go into a panic when they see the photo .
