Airline Agreed but not yet paid compensation - Corendon Airlines

Hi all. Recently found this forum, and am in a similar situation. Flight (EU=>UK) heavily delayed a year ago, compensation agreed and promised within a few weeks, provided bank details but since then.... just stalling, failure to meet promised payment timescales and various escalating offers of vouchers (refused, I want money as agreed, and due under EU261). Any ideas of how best to initiate legal proceedings?

I am in exactly the same position as others on here. Flight July 22. Compensation agreed in November 22 and all bank details taken. Lack of response, offer of vouchers. I'm really at a loss with this and desperately need the money. Can anyone help? Could we initiate a group legal claim?0

Still waiting.... cannot imagine will ever get this money now.0

Any update from Citizens Advice. I'm more than a year on now since when they agreed to a pay and they just keep saying it will take a long time...0

Citizens AB couldn't help me. I filed a complaint to the CAA too. They responded to let me know my claim is valid and that I will get an answer in 10 weeks. I don't hold out much hope. As MadMax said, has anyone EVER got this rabble to pay up? Would be nice to know it is actually possible

I have received the money today! 💰 I never thought I'd see the day. This follows an official complaint I made to the Civil Aviation Authority which I presume is what prompted it, though I haven't heard back from them yet.0

That's brilliant news, thanks for letting us know! Well done on going down the CAA complaint route. I think I will have to follow your lead, Corendon have meanwhile gone totally quiet on me the last few months, though they have the cheek to send marketing emails! Did you hear anything from Corendon accompanying the payment, or did the money just turn up?

Hi PhilSC - basically the money just turned up. The first I knew of it is when it appeared in my bank account. Nothing at all from Corendon and nothing from the CAA until 2 weeks after the payment when I received the following email from them:"Thank you for your patience with us whilst we investigated your complaint about the disruption of flight XR288 on 19 July 2022.
Following our intervention, Corendon Airlines has confirmed that they have issued your payment. We have therefore closed your file as the complaint has been resolved.
With regards to additional compensation, I should explain that EC regulation 261/2004 does not set out any further entitlements, such as compensation, should airlines fail to process payments/refunds within the stipulated timeframe.
Please allow time for the payment to be processed. If you do not receive this from the airline within 12 weeks, please contact them directly with a copy of this email."
So I would definitely advise anyone in the same position to file a complaint with the CAA. It goes without saying that I will never be booking with Corendon again.
Good luck!1
