Morning Debt Busters
So where are we today, an unexpected day to myself today as DH is trucking, so finish tacking I think, whilst watching Jurr*sic D*mini*n 🤣 DH doesn't like that far fetch !!!!!!, his words not mine
So Tilly Tidy is on £19.16
Sw@gbucks 3474sb!!!
NSD 10/10
Today's diner is Sticky chili pork with rice, salad and slaw ( all home made) costs £2.00 😁
So yesterday I chased G@rd@n & Sl@ter over my accident in Sept 21, to be honest they have been beyond carp over it all, it took them 7 months to just get the accident recorded correctly. I've then spent a further 8 months fighting to be seen by a consultant. From the word go I have refused the "whiplash" label because my back was slammed into and cracked the corner of the lumber support and my shoulder slammed into the door pillar.
I emailed at 10.27, by 12.25 they called me 😱 yep because they had had the orthopaedic consultants report since 11th, his findings were high possible permanent lower back nerve damage and 9 months physio on my shoulder. I couldn't resist saying I told you that it was damaged but you chose to treat me as a con merchant!!! Not sure what will happen but a hasty MRI is being organised, I should not have had to wait 15 months for a appointment, you hear the nhs is bad but this is paid for private!

YNAB
Just thought I would ynab talk as some I see use or have used and I suspect a few think ummmm 🤔 what's that
A budgeting tool is a budgeting I hear you cry, they are all the same.......well ynab is totally different
I'm a spreadsheet nerd, love them and have used them for more years than I can remember. I used spreadsheets to "forecast" my income and likely spends. As I am here, been debt riddled for many years it was obviously not that successful!!!
How is ynab different, well you budget money you have NOT what you think you might have. But I'm salaried I hear you cry, yep seems daft not forecasting, you know your income, so why not? Forecasting is an illusion, a dream of what you could have and because all dreams should be fabulous you underestimate how much you will spend on stuff, hey thats OK it's a dream budget where you have £xxxx's left over to treat you and yours, sadly its not real. Disappointment is the only result
How ynab works is you ONLY budget what you actually physically have
eg it's 3 days to payday, you have £150 in your current account, what does it need to do in those 3 days? So you have a DD of £80 to pay tomorrow so you have £70 left. Once that's allocated you have a few options for your £70 spend or save....but that's a bigger question for later
Golden rule no 1
Give every £1 a job
So in the above scenario, having checked the sales you decide to keep your £70 for your up and coming mot. Your allocation of your £150 is as follows
£80 budgeted to bills
£70 budgeted to car repairs

Sounds like you have been very productive.
your meals sound yummy and costs look very reasonable. We had ham, egg and chips this evening - cooked a small gammon and made our own chips. We were just pondering how much we would have spent in a pub for our meals, beer and a glass of wine. We've eaten very early as we were too late for lunch and too hungry to wait.
l your YNAB post is very helpful.

Good you have managed to get that grocery spend down. We are both retired and rarely spend over £250- £300 but we don't buy much alcohol and don't smoke or vape. Shopping at Lidls will be cheaper than Sainsbugs and if you steer clear of the middle aisle (DH loves that too but as he has to pay for stuff bought from his personal spends he is fairly good at not picking stuff up now) I constantly remind him that groceries spends are just that and some handy tool is not coming out of our food spending unless he wants to sacrifice beer and snacks.
The YNAB post is useful but I have to say I resent paying for it so have always budgeted myself using either notebook and pen or spreadsheet. Now our starling app tells us how much we have spent on groceries/fuel/eating out etc as it is all recorded automatically. It probably is done much the same as you though in that we give every pound a job. It is transferred over to pots and watched diligently over the month. All the bills money is put into a bills space at the beginning of the month so we never see it in money available to spend total. Same goes with car costs, house/diy and holidays and gifts.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. I'm one who uses YNAB but I am still using the old YNAB4 which I bought outright in 2014. I'm unable to use it on my MacBook Air as when it updated it went from 32 bit to 64 bit and it only works on 32 bit. Fortunately I have a cheap Dell Windows laptop so use it on there. It's a bit of a pain having to start it up when I need to do anything but at least I don't have to pay out for the new version.
If, or when, it stops working then it will be back to doing it on a spreadsheet as I'm not prepared to pay for something when there's no need.

Morning Debt Busters
So Sunday brings a lie in 🤣 to 6am !!! Well as we rise at 3 it's a big lie in
Today's diner beef biryani with salad, slaw and naan costing £2.75
What does this week bring....currently taking part in an online show, tbh it's pants but free, DHs payday on Thursday and with him working yesterday it shouldn't be too bad. Jan has been diabolical, joining MSE again means as usual all good intentions go out the window and money flows like sand through my fingers 🤦♀️ hopefully Feb will be better
YNAB am really pleased you loved my first post, thanks for the comments and the DMs I'm not an expert, the ynab light bulb has gone off after 6 years so I thought it would be nice to share plus it helps me understand it by typing it out, this week will be about their 4 golden rules 😁
Happy Sundays ❤️Debt Free Diary - Second Chances! Life in a Tourer........Debt free, building a savings pot0 -
Morning Debt Busters
Start to a fresh week and wishing you all a great one
Today's catch ups:
NSDs 11/10 (chuffed as first time I've got there)
Tilly Tidy 23 : £19.91 (yay nearly at £20)
Surveys : 3617sb (shocked I've managed to get this far)
Diner : lasagne, salad and slaw £2.20 (only because its old left over pasta sheet and they were part of a gousto order)
Did a quick tot up of need to pay out once wages hit and its dismal reading, quite behind 🤦♀️ and it's only January
Today's must do's include testing new carpet cleaner to see if it works, type out new knitting pattern onto pdf for ravelry, research slogans for redbubble
Not sure if I should cash out on sw*gbucks or not, does anyone know how long it takes to convert to payp*l?

Hi I just wanted to comment on survey site payouts. Hopefully it's welcome. When you've reached a payout threshold it might be worth collecting it ASAP. Over the years I've experienced surveysites disappearing taking accrued earnings with them. I'd always advice to withdraw as soon as possible to avoid losing out.2
