Morning all xx
I really must fly a little this weekend. But first I'm joining Fayolle and having a second brew. 🙂
Back later to post either a To Do list or a list of accomplishments - decisions, decisions. That second brew might fire up a few brain cells. It's worth a try.
Love to all

Come out, come out, wherever you are 🤣
I'm dressed, sploshed bleach down the loo, put out the rubbish and replaced bin bags, fed the birds, put out the cardboard recycling, rinsed 13 cans ready to be recycled, FUPA towels / tea towels, draped first WM load on the airer, second load is swishing, poured salt on the patch of ice outside the back door, refilled salt pot- might as well seeing as the salt was in my hand. And now I'm having a coffee.
And I'm going to read a chapter or two of my book. Re-reading my Alistair McLean books. Where Eagles Dare at the moment.

Valli said:Cool cap went on…first minute or two I have to steel myself not to ask for it to be removed…then it’s bearable. Couldn’t read, could get my specs on so watched silent witness on the iPad but I fell asleep! I’m in bed now, fresh sheets as I changed it before I went. But I didn’t sleep so well last night hence the nap and the early night.AND MY NEXT CHEMO SESSION WILL BE MY LAST!So glad they had a cool cap available, and HUGE CONGRATULATIONS on finishing the penultimate chemo session.ASB I can't claim to have racked up as many NSDs as you but the mere fact of you doing a NSD January and posting about it has curbed my spending hugely and made me much more thoughtful about using what we've actually got, rather than buying something to make my life 'easier'. I'd be very grateful if you do keep this going because looking at my spending over previous years I'm sometimes pretty okay in January, not too bad in February but it all goes completely pear-shaped in March and carries on being reckless for the rest of the year. However, to give you a rough idea of how much it's helping, for the First Time Ever I managed to shovel some money from my current account into my deposit account. It was the same amount as something that was sold in December and our panto guest, so at some point late last year my basic income balanced my spending. That's what I'd like to achieve for several months and don't always.I managed to clear up a lot of outstanding admin yesterday, as well as finish getting the place ready for a guest who's here for a couple of nights, cooked some dog chicken and wrote a long email to a friend about the possibility of walking Hadrian's Wall in September if my ankle's up to it by then.
Better is good enough.9 -
Morning everyone, and well done to round for surviving the full week.
So far I have
- FUPA clean washing
- decluttered a bath towel that I have had for at least 25 years - I don't think it owes me anything, and when the weather improves and we next go to the Forest, we'll take it (along with 2 others that I've been saving up) to the dog rescue from which we adopted Rosie
- looked in vain for a packet of grass seed that I was going to donate to DS2's lawn
- decided that some mini flowerpots need to be decluttered to the CS next time I go there
- put braised beef in the SC for tonight's tea
- talked to DS1, who thinks he has got Long Covid
- taken the turkey out of the freezer to defrost for tomorrow's tea
- bought frozen Yorkshires and roasties to placate DS1, who thinks I shouldn't be doing lots of cooking
- bought a newspaper that I don't normally read, because there is a National Trust voucher for a one-off family visit which we will use for K and the girls (very MSE)
- had my hooves trimmed by the chiropodist
- remembered to ask the dog walker if she could take Rosie out on Wednesday to make it easier for us to get to Millennium City for my appointment with my surgeon
- checked finances and paid the dog walker for this week.
Still to do:
- make various phonecalls
- order meds
- bread and cheese for lunch
- make crumble topping for tomorrow
- take delivery from MrO 7-8 pm: he has the only decaff coffee that I can drink, at a good price - and then I got an extra 20% off my order because they wanted me back! (I've only ordered a few things that I can't get from MrAl to make up the minimum spend.)
Hope you have a good weekend xxx9 -
Cans recycled, second WM load draped on the airer, bowl of pots WULTD, glass jars for recycling now soaking, cider put in fridge and packaging recycled, ood soft cheese and eggs binned and packaging recycled.
Fish finger sandwiches with tartare sauce eaten for lunch.
I seem to have rediscovered my inner Flylady. 😊

That is wonderful news HB. I certainly will keep going - in order to do what I want (& in many cases, eg dry stone wall repairs, need) to the land, I have to continue to do this. A warm house, happy well fed children and happy well fed animals are all I desire. That, and an excellent Polytunnel that can withstand the weather here. However at over £2,000 for what we need to make that happen this will not be done anytime soon sadly. So growing our own will be hugely limited, but I have to make my peace with that. Standard Polytunnels just can’t cut it up here (officially 1,356 feet above sea level on a moor).
Iona - I am terribly sorry to hear that about your DS. I hope he is getting the medical support available to him. Big hugs lovely xx
WM is on again. Beds made, both fires lit. I need to collect DD later but that’s it.10 -

Whole house dusted and vacuumed, bathroom cleaned. This isn’t my preferred way of flying, but so be it right now. ‘Tis done. Tick.
Walked up to the allotment with DH after lunch, even though everywhere is still frosty out of the sun. Some charming person has lifted my old metal watering can (completely hidden unless you went right round the back of the plot), presumably as an ornament for their garden 🤬. There are still plenty of other plastic watering cans around, bits of metal and even new tools which people leave up there, so it was definitely an intentional steal. On the plus side, we were serenaded by a robin on our walk back, saw some early hazel catkins and even the first snowdrop in a sheltered spot. And pulled some (small) leeks and the last carrots. I’ve brought in some miniature daffodil bulbs that I planted in the autumn in the hope that they will soon cheer a dull day.
Hot chocolate now, and I might just have decluttered a choux bun that DH bought. What slinky??8
