Valli so pleased that the end of your chemo is in sight.
Rather an odd week. Woke up on Tuesday with a large lack of guag/large BD so although I got some uni work done, it wasn't the day I'd hoped for, couldn't even be bothered to gym swim.
Wed approached Mr N's car with trepidation - it's easy to drive but it is his, so I feel more responsible plus I knew I'd finish uni after dark and it was still icy. However, although it was a slow/lengthy assessment, there were no travel issues. Minor bit of flying in the evening - dailies, fill bird feeders etc.
Thurs much as Wed except my work was in the morning so more worries about ice - however no problems. Came home and went to drum lesson on time then Pilates, which chilled me out somewhat as Thurs feels like the start of my weekend.
Yesterday I got up determined to pull myself together and went for a run, the first one this year (blushes in shame). That helped - managed to get a report finished and sent off, 6 days before my deadline so that is encouraging. Spent time going through my pension info as the advisor is coming on Monday and I have to make some decisions. Head spun after all that; I can't understand why I'm good at maths but can't get my head round the various pension options. However I then continued with the preparation for the training sessions I'm meant to be giving to the water chaplains. Reasonable progress apart from arguing with the .gov web site (trying to investigating any provision for people needing text-to-speech or speech-to-text technology).
Today I was determined to lake swim. Icy! But fantastic, I'm so glad I went. I now have several photos of me holding/standing in / swimming in ice. Did quite a bit of gardening when I got back - after coffee of course - as it was so sunny. Cashed in some Tesco vouchers which are multiplied x 3 so spend £4 vouchers and another fiver to get 2 cinema tickets for .....an hour's time.
Rest of the weekend/week is going to be sorting out remaining 'stuff' in bedroom as our new wardrobes are being delivered on 30th and fitted on 31st. Plus need to keep up with reports and fine tune my seminar notes. Plus flying and drumming.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.9 -
That's such good news Valli, you are amazing x
And Narco well done on the lake swim. Nice day here, DH and I went to the town where I work because we needed a few bits of food so we decided to combine the journey with a walk. Lovely 5.5 miles in crisp winter sunshine, that's 9 miles in 2 days and my legs are feeling it.
Clean washing put away, our bedroom tidied, we are both fed. Tomorrow I need to fly.
Oh and Iona there is a lot more long Covid about than most people realise, for many people it is mild so they dismiss it. DH has the same symptoms as long Covid from the vaccine and he has seen a specialist who was very good, there are no easy answers though.
Feet up now, reading with the fire lit and a glass of wine.7 -
After this there will be a couple of weeks of radiotherapy, then it’s just tablets. Thanks for all you comments x x xToday I have decluttered some receipts and worked on banking spreadsheet, been to a volunteer meeting…I thought it was a drop in so arrived late and shamefully blamed it on my chemo…
we’ve been to DS’s for tea. Original suggestion was a takeaway but that was what DD and I had last night so it was spag big, then Tension then UNO.
I might have taken some stuff of his which he left when he moved out…and DD retrieved 2 boxes of football trophies from the loft when we put the Xmas decks away (delay due to my shoulder…I’m not supposed to lift weights above my head yet) and down cane the dolls cradle and dolls bunk beds. They’ve been offered on the family what’s app for home or school (there are other teachers in the family) but if they aren’t claimed it’ll be the CS,
oh and I’ve labelled the marmalade. DW x 1, TD x1, WM x 1.Iona - hope DSgets effective treatment/supportDon't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Brrr 🥶. Freezing fog here. Pretty to look at from indoors but I'm pleased I don't have to venture out just yet. I have to pick up my prescription at some point today - I'm hoping the sun will burn through the fog later (and defrost Feargal!).
I definitely MAD in the kitchen yesterday. I need to build on that today. Having a brew (or two) first though.
Take care. Much love

Chilly out here too, but no freezing fog - up in these heights anyway.I’ve just taken DD’s car for a petrol run, as I am working all week, so no chance to give the car a good run in the week. The temperature dropped steadily on the trip there, even though it’s all down hill.
Dinner this evening will be pie - some lo casserole which was in a rather nice gravy, so I will add mushrooms to bulk it out. The oven will be filled, so crumble and cake is also on the to do list, as well as pastry. This morning, I need to motivate myself towards the admin corner…xx8 -
Morning all. Hope you're all ok.
No freezing fog here today, that was yesterday, but I really didn't enjoy my walk with Poppet. I'm still trying to warm up.
I have done the dailies, put away dry washing and hoovered through, still feeling a chill.
Fancy something retro for pud tonight so I'm about to make pineapple upside down cake.Spend less now, work less later.9 -
Oooh, Jazee, pineapple upside down cake - delicious [nom-nom]
. I have always used the method that we first saw on Blue Peter (was it a John Noakes creation?) and my children always insisted on using whole glacé cherries in the middle of the pineapple rings, not halves.
Another very cold but beautiful start to the day here, with heavy frost on the trees. The temperature has risen by about 3 degrees now, so I shall take Rosie out for a short walk straight after lunch.
DS2 and family are coming for tea, and so are DS1 and his familyI have a pile of veg to prep, but everything else is either made or ready to put in the oven. I must remember to start cooking the turkey by 2.15 at the very latest.
I asked DH to finish the jigsaw which he has had out for 10 days on the DR table, so that we could eat more comfortably in there. He said he couldn't finish it today (not that he's got anything else to do), so I suggested that he should put it on the jigsaw tray which I had been using previously. First he had no idea where to look for the tray (in his bedroom!), and then, when he couldn't slide it across in one piece, he broke up the jigsaw and put it back in its box. I expect I shall be in the doghouse for a week, for even suggesting that he should move it
Happy Sunday, everyone xxx9 -
Morning all
Bitterly cold here, I should really switch the heating off for a bit but even with thermals under my jeans I am not exactly toasty!
DH is decorating and I am pottering, going to put the breadmaker on next and make soup later. I also need to sort out the recycling and get the hoover out.
Oh and like Fayolle I really should look at the admin pile.
