Thanks so much gang. I’m going to order some snag tights on payday. Will also look at Mountain warehouse.
Shepherds pie for dinner now. 4 eggs from my hens which thrilled me greatly, they have been off lay for a bit. Fire toasty warm, may have a hot chocolate for supper xx10 -
Hi all
A little late to the woolly tights/thermals discussion - but I have a lot of pairs of Nxt Knitted Tights, they are about £7 a pair and they dont last forever but wash well. I am tempted by the Snag ones though.
18 hours at the paid stuff in 2 days. I have a deadline to meet, been doing staff appraisals, dealing with an upset colleague and other stuff. Gave up at 4.30pm and decided enough was enough for today.
DH has started decorating DS2s room so the upstairs of the house is in complete chaos. I have done a little ironing and tidied kitchen and LR - that will do.10 -
I’ve had long underwear on…wouldn’t describe self as snug but am not actually freezing. Now in bed with feet on HWB but still feel like blocks of ice.
WUALTD. Put ironing away.
It’s been a busy old day. Am trying the tablets which are intended to replace something beginning with p in my system… anyway they are still upsetting the tum…there’s no way I can take a whole days worth in a day. Must mention to oncology team if they phone.

Morning. It's very quiet on here, hope you're all ok.
Work shift done, washing away/ on airer, bed made. Just about to wash breakfast dishes then I'll walk Poppet.
Keep warm everyone.Spend less now, work less later.9 -
The conversation on the thread about leggings reminded me that I had some at the back of my sock drawer. I managed to drag one pair on over my Nora Batty's this morning, so am now feeling nice and toasty - even if I do resemble the Michelin Man
So far this morning I have
- taken photos of the glorious sunrise
- eaten breakfast
- washed and dressed, but no shower - following Narc0's advice that "a layer of dust protects the wood underneath"
- given my gardener a shortish list of things that needed doing after an 8 week break (and a light sprinkling of snow this morning): the Christmas lights are now down and drying off in the utility, and a lot of leaves have been swept up
- decluttered Rosie's old football, which was as flat as a pancake (she already has a replacement)
- paid the gardener
- FUPA clean washing
- made my bed
- tidied the LR
- wiped round the kitchen
- asked DH to hoover the LR, but he has gone back to bed- a friend is coming at 11.00 for coffee (she says she's bringing cake [nom-nom]) and I would prefer not to sit among Rosie's fluffy sheddings
Still to do:
- drink coffee and eat cake
- make phonecalls/send texts, including to DS1 and DS2 re Sunday tea
- sort stamps and send off my Stamp Swap form
- Rosie's walk
- play with the ancestors - yesterday evening I actually got round to transcribing an article from the Illustrated London News about the second son of my 5x gt-grandfather; the son rose from what the paper called "humble" beginnings to become the Chief Justice of Hong Kong, the moral of the story being that (quote) "It is no longer necessary that a man should be a descendant of a proud ancestry in order that he may achieve greatness or attain excellence." It would appear that society has regressed...
Hope everyone has a good day, not inconvenienced by the snow xxx8 -
Morning everyone,
Love Round's choice of song, the only way is up was our 'song' when we got married, yes that long ago, 34 years and still going strong, still love the song and it makes me get up and move.
Keeping on top of the house and progressing VERY slowly on stuff in the container and the contents of the old filing cabinet. (moved contents in plastic boxes but not the cabinet).
Reasonably good about moving more although it's going to be hard today as it's grey cold drizzle here. 3 wine free days last week so very pleased as it was easier than I anticipated. Weight loss is slow but at least I loose occasionally and don't put on.
DDs were both here for the weekend which was lovely, stuff sorted out for the holiday at the end of next week.
Banking and saving spreadsheets kept up to date. Spending might be under control, new TV and storage units for it to sit on bought but that was planned for. One of the deals when we sold the big house and moved into this one full time was that we would install good storage (as the house in one third the size).
Keep warm and most importantly keep SMILING!9 -

A busy but seemingly unproductive day here, which is rather annoying. I took part in a two hour webinar on Fundraiding for Sports and now my brain is frazzled. They did say they would email the PP slides through, so I can at least look over everything again...oh joy...
I was sliding all over the drive this morning trying to put out the recycling. At one point I actually slid top to bottom in a slow, rotating circular fashion...maybe I should have a pair of your skates Pigpen
I have done a mini blitz in the kitchen and now have an even longer list of things to put away, but having a cuppa first. I've somehow agreed to 3 extra children to dinner tomorrow, so I had to get two large chickens from the shop on the way back from collecting Small after gardening club.
Oh, and yesterday, I got stung for two bottles of the current craze - Prime - a coconut milk based sooooper sweet drink that all the YouTubers and Influencers are raving about. £3 a bottle! Told Tiny I'm not buying any more, so now he's insisting on making sushi this evening to take to school to have another thing to "flex " about. What does that even mean? I feel like a dinosaur sometimes!
Still to do: ironing, spray painting polar bears, mend chartreuse wool coat to sell (just needs a new tortoiseshell button), sort through the coat rack and bag up outgrown/unwanted items for the donation bank, cook dinner and maybe make some flapjacks...
Love to all xxx
Grrr....had to buy eggs todays as all my hens are still being freeloaders due to the rather inclement weather... -6°C again this morning, so I'm not surprised they're off-lay.8
